The weekend is upon us and the eternal question to be asked: What are you playing this weekend?

I'm digging through Civilization: Revolution (X360)...and I will probably pick up Final Fantasy IV on the DS as well... This will be my first DS purchase in over a year.

Moving. If I'm lucky I'll be able to sneak in something tonight (hopefully a little FFXI), but otherwise if I do get to anything it'll probably be Brave Story as it's the only portable game I have going right now.

I'm playing upgrade the firmware on six Brocade 48000 switches running two fabrics connecting three sites.

My 360 is on the fritz (although it doesn't seem to be a red ring case) so I'll be mostly on the PC this weekend. I also got a new iPhone so I've been trying out as many free games as I can find.

I want to try getting back into Dead Riding as well.

Other than those, hopefully lots of board games!

Well, my girlfriend is finally back from her trip so probably not much gaming this weekend for me. But, I've been playing KOTOR II and I'll no doubt put some time into it this afternoon and tomorrow and sunday a bit since she'll also be busy.

I'm 17.5 hours in now and just at 16 hours in I got my first lightsaber. I've been hunting for another so I can dual wield.

That's pretty much all I've been playing and probably will be playing.

Heading out camping with about 30 other friends, so if I get any gaming in, it might be a quick round of tetris or dr mario on my GBA.

I'm sort of trying to get back into Bioshock again, playing through as the bad guy this time around. I'm sure some online Mario Kart will slip in as well.

Lastly S.T.A.L.A.L.A.K.E.R is in the mail, which I'm most excited about, but it's not scheduled to arrive until monday. :(

We have a big video game party tonight at my church, so lots of Rock Band, DDR, Mario Kart, SSBB, etc.

Gonna try to make some progress in Metroid Prime 3. I just beat the boss in Sky Town Elesia. How much longer do I have?

I also just got Ratchet and Clank 3: Double Entendre at a garage sale. Prob some of that.

Also, possibly some Hotel Dusk, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core, Contra 4. etcetera.

gonna finish up lego star wars tcs this weekend, and maybe lost planet if i can get interested in it, which is really proving to be difficult.

edit: lost planet is the worst game i've played in quite awhile. i haven't flat out quit a game in a long time, but this one almost didn't make it out of my 360 alive.

PS3 weekend:

Uncharted or Bad Company (whichever package arrived today--probably Uncharted)

I think that's about it.

I still need to finish TWEWY (on the last battle, I think), so I might do that and dust off EO II afterwards. Probably play some Dawn of War (going through all the single player campaigns + those in the expansions) and the inevitable TF2 matches that seem to pop up over the weekend. Will also try to put more time into the Warhammer Online Beta and Lich King betas.

My best man is driving me and the rest of my groomsmen up to Vancouver B.C. this weekend for some bachelor party debauchery so I am not sure if I will get any gaming done. I am considering bringing the DS for the car ride up and back as I have been trying to finish up Final Fantasy IV GBA for the last 3 years or so and I am almost done. That's about the only thing preventing me from buying the DS version right now. I think I might take another GBA game just in case I finish up FFIV GBA.

Of course, when I get bored of that, I will play a lot of Tetris DS. That is such a great game and it pretty much LIVES in my DS.

Sunday we are leaving for another short family vacation to Lancaster County, PA.

I'm sure that my kids will have their DS's with them :D. I'm debating about taking my laptop which has Fallout & Diablo 2 installed on it.

Before we leave on Sunday, I will probably put in some time with Rome Total War...I just started a new campaign last night.

Tetris DS is one of those games that I can throw in at anytime and have a great time. I love classic mode with the updated rules; having the option to hold a tetrimino and use it later as a replacement for another and the infinite spin. Plus push mode is awesome and the AI can actually be challenging in the higher difficulties.

Multiplayer is a blast with that game as well, push for two players or classic with power-ups for more.

What is your classic mode highscore? I have something like 260,000, it was freaking crazy at that point.

I'm hoping to finish off FFT:WoL at some point this weekend. I'm in the Necrohol of Mullonde... am I close to the end? Please tell me I am.

Otherwise, I'll probably sink a bunch more time into Folklore and maybe Dead Rising, though I'm trying not to spend too much time on Dead Rising right now. I just needed to kill some zombies.

Oh, I also have Siren: Blood Curse (the whole shebang) which took all night and this morning to download and install from the PSN, so I'll take that for a whirl.

If I can polish off FFT sooner than later, I'll likely fire up one of my other PSP games... either Ratchet & Clank or maybe even Jeanne D'Arc, though I might need a bit of a break from SRPG's for a bit.

Just got to 100% completion on GTA the other night, so I'm done with that game for a long time. I dont know what I'm going to play now, kind of at a loss. Thinking about picking up either Ninja Gaiden II, Lost Odyssey, or Penny Arcade Ep 1. If none of the above, I'll probably allow myself to be sucked back into CoD4...

Finishing GTA4 for sure this time. I'm 95% done got all the pigeons finished and all the stunt jumps. Just need to finish up the last 5 or 6 missions. Then I'll have 100% woot!

Also, of course Rock Band, damn Tell Me Baby is pretty tough on expert drums.:p

Once I get GTA4 out of the way I dunno, probably keep trucking through Fallout and Call of Cthulhu.

Likely lots of City of Heroes, which I'm back into. Maybe, just maybe, I'll finally be able to go see The Dark Knight tomorrow; plans seem to constantly fall through. I've also been piddling about with Mario Galaxy again; really love that game, I seem to play it at least once a week. Considering picking up FFIV (DS).

I just finished reading Battle Angel Alita (GUNNM in Japan), and I'm considering moving on to it's sequel. The ending was fairly unsatisfying when I read it, and looking at the Wiki entry, the author claims to have been sick towards the end and had to cut things short in a very big way. The sequel ignores the second half of the last volume, and continues from there. Apparently it is on-going, with twelve volumes in Japanese and ten in English. I may seek out other cyberpunk manga instead/as-well.

My classic mode high score isn't as good as yours, it's only 197786 or something like that. I tend to play push mode a lot. I can usually stomp the computer on level 4 but as soon as I get to level 5 I have troubles keeping up, it goes so fast. I play push mode just about every day over the last couple weeks and I am getting better so hopefully I will beat the computer on level 5 soon.

I'll be focusing on Super Mario Galaxy, Mysterious Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer, and Super Dodgeball Brawlers. Thanks for getting me playing Galaxy again, Heretic Machine. I can't believe I only have 88 stars. And I still can't believe how amazing the level design is in that game. It's unbelieveable. :)

Probably some City of Villains and Warriors Orochi. I have a level 48 villain that I've grinded forever to get access to the epic villain ATs and only two levels away. I try to get a "mini-ding" each time I play, but it is just an awful grind. Even over the double xp weekend, the grind was atrocious. . . I'll be back to just playing from level 1-30 after this (they aren't a criminal grind), but you have to have one level 50 to get the epic ATs open.

Warriors Orochi is just good mindless fun. . . well, somewhat. Rather than playing through the scenarios to see them, I'm playing each of the characters to unlock their global abilities. You see on each map there are certain criteria for each officer that you must meet and then you unlock their ability. This might be Potence which buffs attack power or Cavalier which buffs horse attack power or Acclaim which raises Xp. You get about 10 skill slots in which to equip these and each officer has about 4 to unlock. There are literally about 100 officers in the game, so the way this works is that the abilities are cumulative. . . Unlock potence with 4 different officers and you get Potence 4. I have some skills all the way up to 11 now. It's a pretty neat little metagame they put in because it gets you to play all of the officers instead of just the ones you think are cool (only a handful in previous games. . . I like the ninjas, magicians, and two-handed fighters like Lu Xun as well as handful of others that have cool animations. . . Ling Tong is a particularly ferocious addition with his crazy nunchuks).

I'm thinking about reinstalling Neverwinter Nights 2. Looked for the discs a little bit earlier on today and couldn't find them. I want to play it again, but not enough to buy it again, so I'll be playing this too. . . if I can find the damn discs.

Oh man. If you like horror games and have a PS3, get your butt over to the PSN and get Siren: Blood Curse. They've fixed almost all of the issues I had with the original version of the game and the episodic nature actually works very well with the game as it keeps the game moving a little better than the crazy story structure of the original.

Plus it looks just gorgeous and is probably the first game I've played this year to genuinely creep me out.

How is the episodic format supposed to work out for Siren?

It seems like the horror gaming genre is just asking for an episodic series with completely independent settings and storylines. Someone should take what Alone in the Dark did much further (next Eternal Darkness?) by having a series of, say, 6 DLC packs taking place in the same universe.

Did you listen to the post-E3 1UP Yours show (http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3?http://download.gamevideos.com/Podcasts/071708.mp3)? Garnet suggested something eerily similar about what could be done in the current environment with an episodic Eternal Darkness sequel. The first pack would give you the hub world and the first few pages of the book, giving the player access to a few characters, and subsequent packs could expand on that experience by offering additional pages. In my opinion, that would be the optimal episodic survival-horror concept. Silicon Knights just needs to drop Too Human and get to work on it. ;) Perhaps they already are...

Spigot

How is the episodic format supposed to work out for Siren? In this case, they've basically broken down the entire game into 12 chunks and sold it in 4-episode bundles. I like it though as the hook of the story is that an American TV crew is investigating this village and at the end of every episode they have a little, "In the next episode of Siren: Blood Curse" teaser.

The fact that the story is a little more linear this time instead of being the insanity that was the first game's story is nice and the episodic nature helps in this regard.

If nothing else, I'm just happy that I've essentially gotten an full PS3 game for $39 instead of the usual $59. There's even an online manual. I'm just not being stuck paying for the retail mark-up and the physical media/instructions.

RestlessAvenger, I don't see Folklore on your list. Tsk tsk tsk!

Actually as I went to bed after posting I realized that I had neglected to add it. I've fixed that.

so i decided i would finally get around to playing hl2 episode 2, and instead of buying the orange box i went old school and dug my gaming pc out of mothballs. after getting it all set up, my five year old made an observation some of you will love.

"daddy, that looks just like your xbox computer, only BETTER!"

so yeah, that's what i've decided to do this weekend. lost planet left a bad taste in my mouth, and i need a change for a bit.

Well seeing i've been having issues with my wireless network for the last 4 days I won't be doing much multi player

This morning I got the last 10 points in Assult Heros that i've been missing for months. Besides that i've been working on the old backlog today which included Prey single player that i'll finish up tommorrow. If my wireless starts working i'll play some Prey multi, if not i'll start Quake 2 on 360 for some pointless 0 point achievements hopefully I can get thru a good amount of that.

Since 2003 I've been trying to finish Homeworld 2. Finished this weekend. It was the only game I owned that I had not finished. I know a bunch of you play Sins and it's good - ish.

But in Homeworld 2 you are in command.

Uberjumper: Any word on the BSG / Homeworld3 deal? I hear it's close?

I loved the Darkness. It's probably one of the most under-appreciated games out there. Even with its flaws, it was still a lot of fun.

Mine is 730,841. I did a triple-take when I saw the number. I don't think I'll have the patience to beat it. :p

That is freaking crazy, I cannot even imagine what playing at that level would be like. It has to top out somewhere right?

I will begin playing obsessively again soon and try to break 1,000,000.
