Developer Bizarre Creations revealed yesterday (http://www.bizarrecreations.com/article.php?article_id=5320) that their much anticipated sequel Geometry Wars 2 is due out next Wednesday:

Good news everyone! </Farnsworth> The release date for Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 has now been brought FORWARD by one week. This means that you'll now be popping shapes and blasting snakes on the 30th July for the princely sum of 800 MS Points. That's next Wednesday for those of you without a calendar brain.

Sweet!

I never understood why this series has become so beloved. I don't think its bad, per se, its just that I don't think its very spectacular either.

Thats just me though, I guess.

Looking forward to it. I loved the first one I just wish I was better at it.

There's a beautiful simplicity to the chaos.

Not that I'm getting it, but you gotta appreciate it on that level alone.

You know what sucks about Geometry Wars 2?

Answer: That it isn't Castle Crashers.

I kind of wish they would have just ported Geometry Wars Galaxies. I have it on DS and it's awesome, but would be so much better with analogue sticks and high resolution.

This should be a decent substitute, though. I'll definitely pick it up. The first one was good.

I wonder if Castle Crashers will live up to the hype. They way people talk about it, it's already a classic and no one has played it.

Time will tell.

Can't wait for this.

I love this game series because it is simple, addictive, and trippy as all hell!

You and me both. I still play the first one every couple days for a few rounds, I never can make it much past when those pac-man looking fuckers come out.

Honestly, I'd rather have Feeding Frenzy 2 already. Got high marks in OXM, and unlike Geo Wars, I actually got all the achievements instead of like maybe 2 with Geo Wars. Yes, go ahead and laugh at my gaming skills, but I bet my collection is way bigger than yours. :D

The problem with Feeding Frenzy is that it has no challenge at all. At least, not from what I played... does it get harder?

I also don't understand the hype for Crashers. Sure it looks cool but lots of games look cool. Was that companies first game, Alien Homonid, really amazing?

I really hope they improve...well, just about everything from Alien Homonid. That game just played like a floatier Metal Slug (yes, somehow floatier than MS).

Just give me something to fill the void in my heart left by Turtles in Time and X-men: Arcade.

That game will rule so hard. I've been anticipating that one more than some of the AAA titles coming this year.

Also, Geometry Wars is a staple for anyone who likes old school shooters. I've wasted a stupid amount of time playing it, so I can only imagine I'll probably get this one as well.

What I want to know is, where the fuck is Turtles in Time? That seems like a no brainer. They released the old arcade version, fine, it's a pretty decent game, but Turtles in Time is, unequivocally, the shit.

And the X-men Arcade game rocks my socks off.

I loved the shit out of Alien Hominid though, and if they give us some awesome co-op play with a bit tighter experience overall, I'll be extremely happy.

You and I are in agreement. There's just something special about 2D Beat 'em ups. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but no 3D beat 'em up has ever matched the love I had for those 2 games.

High-Res Turtles in Time/X-men Arcade + Online Co-Op and Voicechat = $$$

It's not nostalgia. No one has made a better 2D beat em up than Turtles in Time.

And what you said. They can charge whatever they want for those two games, as long as they have online co-op and voice chat, they can have all my money dollars.

It's still not Talisman. I will never forgive a cancellation of it if this occurs.

The only reason I haven't played Geometry Wars to death yet is because I can't be bothered to put in the "Offline Arcade" disc every time. I've learned my lesson and actually download the sequel.

You know that photo-sensitivity warning they have in game manuals at the start? I never thought much of it until I played the original Geometry Wars. That game made me feel disoriented... which sucks because what I got the chance to play of it, it was a lot of fun.
