I just bought PAIN too. That's a shame. I can't wait to get home and play the PixelJunk Eden demo. I may hold off for more impressions on Siren before I pull the trigger.

Oh, there's also the weekly Rock Band/Guitar Hero III tracks, but those are there every week, so I didn't bother to mention them.

Which of those $4.99 games are worth it? Which ones would you buy first? I'm most curious about Pain, Bowling, and PJM.

The Rock Band additions were Nine Inch Nails to my surprise. Instabuy. Also got first 4 episodes of Siren. Episode 1 is insultingly short. Hopefully it was merely an intro episode.

I have not played the bowling game yet, but I would probably place PJM ahead of Pain.

Get Pain and PJM... PJM for sure.

So is the entirety of Siren: Blood Curse available now or are we basically buying a subscription to get them as they roll out? I'm going to just get the whole kit and kaboodle regardless as Siren is one of my favourite horror games of the past generation and I quite enjoyed the demo of Blood Curse.

Oh, I'd get Parappa but I know I can get the UMD version for slightly less at one of the shops around here and I'm ticked that it is essentially a straight port of the game. They should be selling that for PS1 prices, not PSP game prices.

Pixel Junk Monsters is worth $20. I'm not kidding. EVERYONE better own it for $5. No excuses!

It's one of the best games on the PS3, let alone PSN.

I wrote a review about High Velocity Bowling... but it looks like it got axed awhile back.

HVB is definitely worth it at $4.99.

Nice. I'll probably pick it up. At $5, it's a lot easier to give these games a buy. I wish more of these downloadable games would launch with that price point.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who saw "Strip Poker Edition" as my eyes were scanning the column.

I just got my PS3 pretty recently, are there any DLC titles that are must have? LBP was one of my main reasons for purchasing the system, but I haven't paid too much attention to any of the others.

I'm a big Super Stardust fan--if you're not burned out on dual stick shooters (Geometry Wars, Blast Factor, Mutant Storm, Crystal Quest, Schizoid, etc etc etc) it's a must buy. Everyday Shooter is also quite interesting, although it's another dual stick shooter.

Echochrome didn't live up to its potential, but still worth checking out at the demo.

Also: Can someone give me some more details on Siren? I'm one of the brave souls who played the PS2 version, but I'm wondering if the PS3 episodic stuff is worth the money.

I bought Siren pack 1 yesterday, played it a little bit, looks great (if very disorienting at times, so dark and grainy). But I must say, the more I think about it, the more I like this episodic nature of a game like this. 10 Euro's (yes, not cheap, but still, not expensive either) For 1/4 of a game is great. Seeing as I don't finish half the games I own. Now I can just buy what I play:P

On a sidenote, I also bought Tekken 5 on PSN (decided I should figure out how the store works:D). That game rocks, tons of fighters, looks great for a DL game. I was rather impressed by it. They should release more PSP games like this for PSN. Yes, Ghouls n Ghosts, I'm looking at you.

I liked the demo of Siren (it was freaky like Silent Hill, mixed with a bit of RE4...sorta). Will this ever be available via physical media?

And PJM, here I come. I can also recommend Pain for $5. I got it free with my PS3, and it was a good, relaxing hoot.

Thanks for the heads up on that sale. Just need to find out if HVB and Rocketmen are worth it as well. Pseudo says HVB is good, so I'll probably grab it.

I also need to buy Elefunk for $5. Man do I love me some PSN.

Of course no edit button, but I wish the PS3 could play PSP games, even if via download. I see demos and stuff on PSN and wish I could try them. I don't own a PSP currently, so I have to pass them by.

I picked up PAIN. Decent value at $5, but certainly wasn't a $10 title - they should have included all of the add-on characters for free too. Sony really needs to work on the patching system for their games. It took about 15 minutes for all of the patches to download and install for just this small DL game.

I'm tempted by PixelJunk Monsters after all the good reviews it's been getting. I'll download the demo and try it out.

Has anyone played PixelJunk Eden? Impressions?

Ok, I grabbed PJM after finally putting in some time with the demo (I've only had it on my HDD for 2 months or so now). Very fun little game there.

PJE is fun as well, I loved the music and the look the game has. I doubt I'll pick it up right away since I just got PJM and want to put some time into it, but I can defintely see getting it soon. I need to mess around with the demo more and see if I can get the video capture thing going.

I grabbed the whole Siren package on PSN. I loved the PS2 game and from what little I tried of the demo, most of the issues with the PS2 version have been fixed. Plus it looks yummy and it's a new story! I just wish they didn't make you download each episode of the game individually. At least give us an option to download them in packs of 4...

I'll probably be spending my weekend playing Folklore and Siren: Blood Curse, so I'll give a more solid opinion on Siren come the end of the weekend. Suffice it to say, the game is a lot easier to play than it was on the PS2. I love summer for the horror games. There's just something about a sunny day followed by a night soaked in blood :)

This is something I've been wanting for a very long time. You can already play PS1 games on either a PS3 or PSP. It is the next logical step to full integration. Unfortunately, it probably will never happen due to the difficulties of software emulation.

As for your question about Siren, why would you want a physical copy? The online version is $39, so you are theoretically getting $20 knocked off the price and you don't have to have the box and manual lying around your house to clutter things up.

Personally, if I could purchase every game I want to play as a download rather than physical copy I would. I love the convenience of not having to put a disc in when I want to play something (which is one reason I play so many Live Arcade games). No more boxes, manuals, and disc is perfectly fine with me. It is also more environmentally friendly.

Pixel Junk Eden seems like it will be as good as I had hoped.
It's like a platformer using the Ninja Rope from Worms, but with very attractive, simple graphics, and very nice music.

I think the reason it has a demo out early is because it's a bit different than anything out there, so definitely give the demo a try, with an open mind, if you're at all interested in the game. Seems like a pretty lengthy demo, too.

I played the demo of Eden, and it just seemed like a lesser version of Wik for XBLA and PC.

In Japan, yes. Elsewhere, doubtful. Siren for PS2 bombed hard in the US. If it weren't for the magic of digital distribution, we'd never see it here, which is actually very cool.

You can get the Asian one on BD. There is no region lock on the PS3 so you can play it on any system. There are English subtitles for 99% of the game, some of the zombies grunts and what not don't have subs. From what I've read there are some nice extras in the retail package. They have it at play-asia if you have any interest. Pretty sure I am picking this one up.

I don't see any extras on the Japanese retail version, at least no according to the Play-Asia listing.

Complex story spread across 12 dramatic separate episodes with seven playable characters in all
Sight jack system lets you see exactly what your enemies see
Sneak past the deadly Shibito or take them head on with over 50 kinds of weapons, each with unique fatal finishing move animations
Archive system lets player unlock a variety of story clues and important background information
Contains all 12 epiodes on one Blu-ray disc release
I'm pretty sure the Archive system is in the PSN version.

And for $20 more...

I'll stick with the version I snagged last night. I still wish that they'd had some kind of bundled download thing so that I didn't have to download each episode individually and then install them all one at a time. Sigh.

Sweet Googly Moogly, Siren is awesome. I retract any reservations I might have had (which were few, as I bought the whole package last night without thinking twice). The archive is there and is as awesome as ever and the game just feels like Siren but without the without the eardrum-burstingly awful British accents.

It is a new story too, which is nice. I just hope that the game doesn't fall apart halfway through like the other ones did but that first episode, short as it is, has me stoked for more.

It's so nice to see such an underappreciated game from the PS2 era given a new lease on life. I just hope more people play this.

Snagged Monsters tonight and also put another 5 bucks in my PSN wallet to snag Elefunk later. Wish there was a demo for bowling.

Know what I love? Being able to buy a $5 PSN game and not have to buy seven or eight dollars worth of "points". A penny left over in my wallet that will probably never be used, but I'll pretend it's "tax".

In Siren's case, it's a very creepy nugget.
