Gamersreports (http://www.gamersreports.com/index.php?sid=3687) has 4 new screens up of Madden 2006 on the XBox 360. Quite an improvement from the video we saw before, but lets wait to judge it until we see it in motion.
Thanks Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com)

Agreed. It's looking better and better. I expect a whole slew of gameplay footage from X05 this week.

The second one looks great.
If they can pull this of in real-time and at HD quality then I'm impressed.
Doesn't look as good as NBA 2k6. I bet the 2k team could squeeze something even nicer out, if it wasn't for the infamous deal.

There are less models needed at any given time for a basketball game, so nba2k should look better
I'm aware of that. This, however, seems to be following the same kind of stiff and phony look of Madden games past. A look the 2k games have not had. For example, look at the way that guy is carrying the ball, I bet you you can hit a sprint button of some sort and he'll lean forward a bit and run faster and just as stiff as always. It's not something adding more polygons or whatever graphical effect to will fix.
In any case, I know I'm drawing a bit heavily on a couple screenshots and past Madden games. There's no video out there as of now, right?

Fret not, Visual Concepts are working on a football game featuring retired NFL greats. Hopefully not as the appear now, though. And if you're wondering, players who retire are no longer considered part of Players, Inc.

Perhaps, but I don't remember anyone saying "Wow, look how much better NBA 2k5 looks than NFL 2k5!!!"
Of course then again, NFL 2k5 blew away Madden graphically.....

Taco, I agree with you about the madden stiffness and lifelessness. Though to me animations are kinda moot until we get realisitic reactions to animations, which I think would almost have to be done dynamically (example: players body motion while adjusting to a pass, not having a stock catch animation with the ball magically being attracted to the players hands)

Wow, the guy isn't even holding the ball.
Amazing, this next generation of consoles.
More polygons that look more detailed but still move poorly as last year.

Still doesn't look like that video they showed way back. I wasn't really expecting it to, but it seemed EA did.

It's kind of hard to miss all of the pixel poping in the first picture on the facemasks.

They seriously need to increase the Depth of Perception filter and the motion blurr and bloom effects by like 150%... that way you couldn't see all the inconsistancies.
Meh. It looks ok. But once again, it'll only look real from half way across the show room floor at you favorite computer store. Up close, it still looks like a game. Bleh.

Looks good, but not $300-$400 more good.
