Apparently IGN is totally blown away (http://sports.ign.com/articles/655/655097p1.html) by the new NBA game on next gen hardware.
But the players aren't the only ones brought to life as you're going to witness an electrifying crowd complete with 10,000 individual models dispersed throughout the arena. And what better way to capture the atmosphere than through authentic arena lighting arrays sampled from actual NBA venues and a bounce lighting technique called dynamic specularity. Look at the yellow light on Shaq's armpit in the screen below. The light's coming from the yellow court. Amazing.
To be quite honest, it is more of a rave about the graphics than a sensible "preview."

The preview is more of just a presentation of the video and screenshots. Which in all fairness, really do speak for themselves. It's also about the animation and physics. I wouldnt just jump to the idea that theyre just talking about graphics. Id say IGN is more excited about the overall presentation of what they are seeing.

The players look good, but the spectator models are low-poly pieces of shit. I don't know why they'd bother, really.
The clothing looks really floaty, too. The very last pic, the guy's just standing still, and his jersy isn't touching him.

If the pictures are, in fact, in-game... damn, this would be a really beautiful game to watch....

Looks really nice... if those are real screenshots. I couldn't get the video to connect.

Looks great. But the question is how will it play. It already looks leagues better than NBA LIVE which is a good thing.
Go 2K!!

This game looks insanley good, nice piece of damage control though Vandenh.
IGN sux.
that game looks HOT. Sorry FPS, RTS, RPG fanboys, but THAt game will sell units! That's the kind of thing that "mass market" is looking for.
Now if it plays half-as-good as it looks, we're in business...
BTW, IGN sux. :p

The character models look fantastic, so do the textures and the lighting effects. But one thing that particularly pokes me in the eye are the clothes - it's not so apparent in every single screenshot, but they look rather crappily modeled. And even if the game has "cloth physics", they still appear to be levitating above the players' shoulders all the time. Really freaky and really weird.

Shiny, like every other 2k sports game.
I didn't look at the screenshots, but the thing looks AMAZING in motion and since you buy the game to play it, not look at it in high-res stills, that's all that matters to me...
