Wow. I was able to go to E3 2006 in Los Angeles and it was a little ridiculous how much money was spent there. Some of the "sideshows" there included a band that performed far too often for the NCSoft folks, and they actually had a full half-pipe that a bunch of professional skaters performed on (I think Tony Hawk was there, but I wasn't interested because I can go to the X-games all over and I'm a gamer). Also, Paris Hilton showed up to promote some game that her name on it. FF XI had a huge "hangout room" that allowed game developers and press from around the world to log on to their Final Fantasy XI characters for a little during-convention grinding.

Plus, this room, while packed with the good stuff (games being demoed or available to play) was about the size of the BAD exhibit hall. These booths are kind of cool because what I enjoyed about E3 wasn't just getting to play games that aren't out yet. . . that's cool, but you don't REALLY get to play them because your time is limited. What's awesome is getting to pick the brains of the developers who are working on a title.

Also Nick, for some reason you remind me of M. Night Shyamalan. Can you please end all your videos with a surprise twist?

You are being sarcastic. . . right? If we need conventions for games to be awesome then someone needs to tell Bioshock, Mass Effect, CoD 4, Halo 3, etc. etc. that they need to stop being awesome.

That's the online encoding. Vimeo is so much better than BlipTV but you are limited to 500MB of uploads a week there. :(
