Does the patch stop the game from being mediocre?

I'm playing this now. I loved the first one, but sadly the graphics in this game are a 0 improvement beyond the first one. They should have just called this a Dungeon Siege Expansion and saved some discspace.

The thing that drives me nuts is that the opening screen is STILL stuck at, what, 640 x 480 resolution. I mean, the game itself looks fine but when I'm playing at 1280 x 1024 and I can't get the main menu screen to conform to those resolutions... bleh.
I like the game as it has been a while since I played the first one and it can suck me in for a while when I have some free time. Given the huge deluge of games at the moment I'm not really going to be playing it a lot until I clear out a bit of the backlog of other games on my various systems.
