anyone play this game? I love RTS games but I find (PERSONALLY) that the ones decidated to melee combat (AOE2,BFME,R:TW, WCIII)are much more fun any ones that are gun based (Platoon, C&C, SC). So I'm not sure if I'd like this one.

So, when FilePlanet adds "_fp" to the end of the download file and says that the download is an exclusive, that means everyone is allowed to delete the _fp extension and host it themselves?
Just wondering, that's all.

I love Warhammer40K: DOW. I haven't tried the expansion yet, I've mainly been playing DOW + Steel Legion mod.

i personally have found the original warhammer 40k dawn of war to be THE funnest RTS i've ever played, mainly from the immersion standpoint, and to me, that's everything in a game, if i can't get immersed in it i get bored quickly.
this game is very well produced and polished, everything from the animations, to the graphics, to the sounds was just near perfect to me. its one of those games that i actually stopped to watch the characters fight between themselves, rather then just tell them to attack, and go somewhere else to manage something else and be more 'efficient'.
great sounds with the speakers turned up :)

The new version is as fun as the last but the balancing feels different and the new tech trees are extremely different. I had to relearn a little. However, I though the eldar were kinda screwed up in the first place as far as tech but now they make a little more sense. The new race is actually pretty cool. I thought that they would be kinda weak, but no.

Dawn of war puts you into the war makes you feel like you are really fighting an all out war. Unlike wc3 where the pop cap is rather small and it seems you are just fighting many skirmishes that just depend who can get their hero to level 6.
But BFME? I thought that game was really bad.

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely have to give this one a try. I loved BFME, but, then again, I'm a die-hard tolken fan so my opinion of the gameplay is obviosuly biased.

I've been playing this since it's launch. This is one of the best expansions I've played since C&C Firestorm or Broad Wars.
Anyone who hasn't played Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War. Please do so. This is behind the developer, Relic, who brought us Homeworld. As far as DoW's competition goes, it may sell the least, but it is much better than the RTS' like Generals, LoTR: BFME, EE2 and A&A. I was skeptical initially, refusing to stop playing BFME, but once I got into Dawn of War, I couldn't put it down. The expansion just gives it further justice.
And yeah, the Imperial Guard are so amazingly awesome. I've actually applied my "Brotherhood of Nod" skin to them and it's very fun to play with : )

It's a big change to go from the Space Marines, who can just about hold their own against anything just using their core units properly outfitted with heavy weapons and with their HQ units present, to the IG, who are next to useless when not supported, but can utterly lay low the entire map if they can hold out long enough to get goodly amounts of armor up and running. Great fun.
The IG are a very interesting faction, though I've only played Space Marines and Tyranids on the tabletop. To any of you who enjoy the RTS, you should defintely check out the game it all comes from - that is, if you've got a few hundred dollars and a few hundred hours burning holes in your wallet and life, respectively. Everyone always needs another expensive hobby, right?
