Even though we already have a look at Midway via our E3 Preview thread on them (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56733), Midway today has sent a press release explaining all the games they will be showing off at E3. Here is a part of the release with the full one in the next post:

“Exciting new entertainment experiences such as Wheelman, proven franchises like Mortal Kombat, the next installment in the million plus selling Blitz the League® franchise and new games for the casual market make this Midway’s most diverse and powerful line up yet,” said Matthew Booty, interim president and CEO, Midway. “These games truly reflect our product strategy to develop top quality titles in a wide range of genres that appeal to all segments of the market.”
Wheelman was put in the Midway Preview on a whim that they might show it off and it seems to be coming out in 2008 according to the PR. I know many weren't very excited about the lineup in the Preview thread (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56733), but maybe front page readers will think differently...maybe?

I thought Wheelman sounded kinda neat until I got to this part:
Vin Diesel stars as an undercover agent
This list is pretty much full of groaners.

i have a question, perhaps science can answer?

why did marvel vs capcom rule so much it hurt, and yet the very thought of mortal kombat vs DC makes me sick to my stomach?

is it because marvel is arguablely better than dc and street fight is arguablely better than MK?

please help me!

It's more like the developers of the MK games aren't as awesome as the developers of Street Fighter. That and DC Comics would not allow their characters to be ripped to pieces therefore making a MK vs. DC game useless.

Personally I thought Wheelman sounded awesome. Say what you want about Vin's movie career, but I thought Escape from Butcher Bay kicked ass. I'm looking forward to seeing him involved with another vid game.

I'm just reposting from the other thread.
I still believe that this is Midway's last go round.
2009 will see the shutdown and what few IP's they have left sold off.

Looking forward to MK vs DC and TNA Impact!. When done right (and the major game hasn't been for years) wrestling games can be just as good as any other fighting game.

What's considered done right?
I liked the engine in Legends of Wrestling and I like the Rumble Rose engine. I even liked the UFC engine on the DC.
Not too big on the WWE releases for awhile now.

Wrestling games haven't really been done right since the N64 days....and that engine was used for the successful Def Jam franchise. Closest thing you can get to a good wrestling game these days is Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.

Wheelman seems like it could be good from the gameplay videos... it has shootdodging from a car and car melee attacks.

This is Vegas could also be fun.

The rest of them I do not care about.
