Fucking amazing! Save your don't get DOD:sauce save that $20 and put it down on this! Great demo!

Is there some sort of superman mode? What gives? You can get shot a zillion times? ah well it must be in place for the kids on the short bus(Xbox360 and such). Still a fun fast paced game though!

Is there a single link that moves faster than 80 Kbps? For a 600 mb demo the speeds I'm getting just dont work.

This is the first time I've done this for any demo, but I've written up an article with my impressions on the game which can be found here (http://www.filerush.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3823). I decided to try my luck at starting the article out with a story, or rather a look at the start of the demo as seen through my eyes, and ended up talking about some of the pros and cons of the demo.

Enjoy!

dissapointing. They gimped everything that made CoD CoD...

I'm pretty happy with that. Weapons felt ok, smoke grenades were awesome. The grenade danger indicator's a nice touch... it will help reduce frustrations for more casual gamers that don't hear the "chink" of the grenades landing.

Considering they switched to a new game engine for this one, it sure felt a LOT like CoD:UO, but with upgunned graphics. It certainly felt more immersive, what with the minimilized (hidden) interface.

Nice and intense, but the default difficulty is ridiculously easy for any serious PC gamer. Also, I'm not entirely sure a Halo-style health system is the best choice for a WW2 game.

Hey guys....played the demo a couple times and saw a bunch of nice stuff happening....first off SMOKE.....holy christ.....just beautiful!!! when your in the "the cloud" it's unreal. NICE NEW ENGINE...great textures, runs smooth, very eye-appealing.....nice bump-map effects....adds depth, and realism. Battle Chatter....brings everything alive. Very nice battlefield effects....explosions, grenade puffs, fire. Sound.....very convincing and intense. Gameplay...more of the tried and true COD formula. All and all a step-up in the COD franchise.Although I agree, ragdolls would have been nice.

I thought it was quite boring. Yes, pretty smoke, but I don't care of that.

It felt just like the old COD-games, run in tunnels and shoot stuff. There wasn't even any higher level physics like ragdolls or basic rigid bodies. I would've loved to see some changes or real additions in the basic gameplay.

Yup, it still seemed pretty linear to me. That being said, they did add flanking, which was done pretty well in Brothers in Arms.

Ragdolls are getting to the point where I expect them in every game, and for a fps not to have them is a real drawback to me. Its just more fun when bodies fall out of windows and get blows across the room.

Call of Duty = waypointastic. In COD i felt i was rushed through a narrow corridor of simulated world and actions.Very linear.Still enjoyed it though :)

Sounds like the old problems are still in COD2.

Ragdolls are getting to the point where I expect them in every game, and for a fps not to have them is a real drawback to me. Its just more fun when bodies fall out of windows and get blows across the room.I don’t like ragdolls the way they’re implemented in most games. They slide along the ground, flop and jitter, arms splayed in every direction. And when I shoot something with a pistol and its arm whips back like I just beat a piñata, it’s very unrealistic. It just looks absurd to see a guy hanging from a fence by his foot twitching in the air as you do in Battlefield 2.

I really liked this demo, it’s more CoD and better looking, and that’s all I’m asking for.

I'm also pretty sure it has some physics when you shoot the bodies. I can't boot it up now to verify, but I recall germans getting tossed when hit by a grenade, and people's arms jerking back when you shoot them. Maybe it's just more subtle (realistic) than people are used to.

Maybe it's just more subtle (realistic) than people are used to.That's not ragdoll, it's just more inventive use of animations. Those effects were in the series at least as far back as Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, which of course had no ragdoll effects whatsoever. It's the same sort of thing as in Halo, when somebody gets killed by a grenade or rocket and goes flying with their arms flailing... the only physics involved is in calculating the angle the body should fly upward at. All the flailing is pre-captured.

As for ragdolls being badly implemented... uh, there are a few games that implement them that badly, but for the most part they're a huge improvement over seeing the same death animation OVER AND OVER. What really gets me is that CoD 2 doesn't even have environment physics... all those barrels, crates, etc. don't even move when a grenade explodes next to them. The graphics are pretty good, but some level of physics is mandatory for any modern FPS.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was alot like the first COD and the expansion but considerably prettier. It ran great on my system, and the smoke effects were really amazing. The only real gripes I have are that it still has no physics, including no ragdoll for deaths, and that it is still extremely linear. I know the call of duty games are designed to be linear, but it seems like it is a little much this time around.
