The man responsible for Monkey Island series is back and better then ever. In fact he is looking for an investment deal that would allow him to retain IP ownership in his next game.

With any luck the Adventure/RPG game will be funded with private investors, allowing me full control over the strange little game. I'm not opposed to a main-stream publisher funding it, but they would have to understand where I am coming from with the game and allow me to retain the IP, which is unlikely. But you never know. Someone gets a little too drunk, embarrassing photos are taken and bingo, I have a deal.Directly from his blog (http://grumpygamer.com/2795896)

Did anybody notice that he stole news from Evil Avatar? Just scroll down to Aug 8th's "Weekend Sales Charts" on the main page, and you'll see it. Hehe :p

This man is my fucking hero. No, seriously. If he made a new game the quality of Monkey Island I'd be all over it like fat chicks on chocolate ice-cream. Just as long as its a point and click game, and none of that 3d "Tank Simulator" controls as one here on EA so nicely put it.

Mr Gilbert, you make a new game and I'll start up a fan community website and start recruiting victims straight away if you can make one promise - please let it contain a monkey in a ballerina outfit... please?

True, and lucas arts still makes money because of it.
Because even Monkey Island 1 have to be baught.
Unlike many other games from that time that gone free.
How long can they milk that cow?

I hate Lucas Arts.

Monkey Island 1 (and probably still my fave...I love the adventures before 3D and powerful graphics) got me hooked on adventures, and Ron Gilbert. I'd be keen on any game he released. And the guy has a wonderful sense of humor, which is appreciated in the games industry. He and Schafer are some of my favorite developers, because they actually know how to make a hilarious, great game, and not just a moronic attempt at laughter.

He can steal whatever he wants, as a matter o'fact if he asks the entire population of Evil Avatar to bend over so he can discipline us for buying KOTOR, then we will comply and give a good, "Thank you very much, sir!" He's a god of gaming, right up there with Miyamoto, Richard Garriot, and Will Wright.

Can't wait to see what he comes up with.

He's used EA as a source for the weekly releases and box office before too.

Well, if I had the cash I'd fund it for sure.

I'd literally give up the Xbox 360 for a new Monkey Island.

Its great to see that there are still gamers who apriciate games like Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max, Day of the Tentecle (My fav)... and such.

We are few guys, and we are dying.
Sad but true.

This has got to be the greatest gaming news of the year! Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island series are my all time favourite games so any game Ron creates is practically guaranteed to be pure gold.
I am very excited :D

But it's not an announcement of a game coming out or even in the works! It's just him begging for money with the promise that he's gonna make a game.

Man, I should try that...

Difference is his chances of following through are monumentally higher than yours. :p

Does anyone know where I can get these games? If shady underhanded internet dealings is the only way, can someone show me the door to this blackest of markets?

I'll buy. Monkey Island is one of the best adventure games ever.

I can hold my breath for 10 minutes!
