Cold Storage (http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=14556), the new multiplayer map for Halo3 will be released on July 7th for FREE. Additionally, the Legendary Map Pack will see its price reduced from 800 MS points to 600 MS points [Bungie Pro upgrade not included after 7/7].

More holiday weekend goodness below...Enjoy your 4th of July!

Cold Storage will be available for free beginning on July 7, Bungie Day, on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Additionally, don’t forget to grab the one-day-only free gamerpics and theme on 7/7.

Beginning on July 7, there will be a 48-hour long seven-player FFA playlist in Halo 3’s Matchmaking where you can turn the calendar back to 2001 and control l Rockets, Invis and Snipe.

For now, Cold Storage will be implemented in regular rotation in playlists that require the Legendary Maps. To avoid confusion, playlists that previously required the Legendary Maps will now remind players that they need “all Maps” to participate, and since Cold Storage is free, it shouldn’t be a big deal for you to grab the map on July 7 and then return to your regularly scheduled business in SWAT.

Additionally, on 7/7, Microsoft is dropping the price of the Legendary Map Pack from 800 spacebucks to 600 spacebucks. That price drop does mean that purchases after 7/7 will no longer include the Bungie Pro bonus.

We’re trying to churn one last thing out today regarding Cold Storage, and we hope to have that for you folks later this afternoon. We’re just squeezing it through the download system this morning. If something cataclysmic happens and it doesn’t get out today, I’ll stop drinking beer and consuming grilled meats over the long weekend and get it up for ya’all.

Very nice. Thanks for the heads up.

Although I get the 7/7 reference, it would've been nicer to have this over the long weekend.

I am stupid... what's the Bungie Pro bonus?

It increases the size of the fileshare you can use to upload pics, map variants, gametypes, films, etc.

I am stupid... what's the Bungie Pro bonus?

You're not stupid. It's something only ridiculously geeky fanboys would know.

When you link your gamertag to a Bungie.net profile you create, you can share and download screenshots, replays, and map variations. You select which ones you want to upload/download and when you log into Halo3, your queue starts.

'Standard' folks only get 6 slots and ~6mb(?) of storage on Bungie's servers for all their stuff. The 'Bungie Pro' people get something like 50 slots and lots more, but it costs a yearly fee. Those who bought the Legendary pack got a bonus usage of the Bungie Pro for a limited amount of time, and now that's going away when the price drops. (Not sure how long the Legendary people get to keep the Bungie Pro.)

Thanks guys for clearing that up. I was going to buy it before the drop if it meant I'd be losing something big, but since it's a feature I've never used, I won't worry about it! Been putting off the Legendary map Pack for too long, just because I haven't played any Halo 3 since the Heroic Pack came out.... time to get caught up.

If you all are like me and spent a bit of time this past weekend killing brain cells and consuming delicious carcinogens, you'll appreciate this little reminder to grab Cold Storage, the new map, for FREE today!

Also, there are one-day-only gamerpics and a theme to go along with it! Thanks for the reminder, Me!

Not sure if you want it? View a ViDOC here of the map in action! (http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=14568)
