Eidos Interactive sends along word that Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico (http://www.totaloverdose.com/) has officially Gone Gold and will be on store shelves for the PC, Xbox and Playstation 2 on September 28th.

Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico has officially Gone Gold this week and to celebrate, Eidos has an official game demo (http://www.eidosinteractive.com/downloads/search.html?gmid=160) now available for download! As sons of an undercover DEA cop who mysteriously dies of an "overdose" in Mexico, Ram and Tommy Cruz are taking it upon themselves to uncover and unravel the grand cover-up surrounding their father's murder. Playing as these witty trash-talking brothers in this hilarious adventure of revenge through Mexico, you'll infiltrate the drug trafficking underworld of Mexico battling thugs by the hundreds, making enemies with top drug lords, catching the eyes of Latin ladies, and reeking havoc like the youthful renegade that you are! Your arsenal of weapons ranges from shovels and hand guns to assault rifles and rocket launchers!

To add personal style to your pillaging, unlock your unique Loco Moves such as the infamous "Mariachi Move" with guitar cases ablazing, as well as the "Sombrero Move" summoning a spirit of the Day of the Dead to help you wipe out your surrounding enemies. In fact, you haven't lived until you have unleashed the "Lucido Wrestler Move"! And, in addition to your combat capabilities, you are surrounded by fast cars to steal, trucks to crash, and burrito carts to- well, you'll see! Your adventure unravels through Mexico's city streets, across tumbleweed plains, into the deep jungles, past ancient ruins, and beyond.

Eidos is arming you with a chip on your shoulder, a sharp tongue, and enough attitude to overthrow any drug trade working, mustached, low-life south of the border. Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico will be available in North America starting September 28th, 2005 on PS2, Xbox, and PC.

Played the demo. Terrible graphics. Gameplay was amusing for a short time. It's all about doing combos to get more points, powerups, etc. Like Tony Hawk with guns. It would get old real, real quick.

Yeah true, the graphics are well behind the times.
But the demo is alot of fun. The whole Mexican Desperado theme is a cool angle.

Wow, impressive that they can get the game printed, shipped and on store shelves injust six days.

I thought the game was gold as of a couple weeks ago?

It's a fairly fun GTA-ish game.

As simplistic, mindless games go (Doom, Serious Sam, KUF) this is actually a lot of fun. Just as long as the full game doesn't feel as short as the demo.

If you noticed in the demo there are at least 3 towers that need to be blown up in order to topple the big one. It looks like they blew the others for you to shorten the demo. I played through it a few time and found buildings and stuff I hadn't seen before. It's actuallly a fairly large area if you explore a little bit. I had a lot of fun with the pc demo but will end up buying the Xbox version. It feels like it was developed for console and I only have a laptop with the Go Force 5200. I think it's only $30-$40 so what the hell.

The game is actually very GTA-like. A large open city to explore and do sub-missions in. The story missions take you to large jungle, desert and mountain areas much like the ones in the demo. The actual story mission that the demo represents is much larger than the demo. You have to blow 4 towers before taking down the big one, and there is a savepoint in the mission as well.

I really like the game so far. It's a simplistic action-shooter with Max Payne and GTA mixed nicely.

Also, on the Xbox, it's one of the rare games that supports 720p... and it looks very sharp.
