XBox360 News (http://www.xbox360news.com/Blogs/News/hqs/blr_581.aspx) reports that interest in the 360 jumped up to a whopping 22% from 6% in Japan following the Tokyo Game Show.
Wow...that's a 366% Increase. ;)

Surprising. Perhaps MS can crack that market. I will say the new 360 is a far, far slicker looking machine than their previous outing, and, despite what people may purport to be true, it does matter.

Actually, I believe it would technically be a 266% increase, but who's counting? :D
I wonder how they gathered that data or if it was done by the same people. It seemes like such a drastic change that it could be some PR stunt.

Yea it is really suprising, seems even kinda unbelivable from 6% to 22%. Iy is done by diffrent companies.
Oh forgot to mantion. I dont trust Fansites. Espesially Xboxes fan sites, they posted so much golden crap over xbox360 and how lame ps3 so they are as reliable as a cat who is told to watch over the milk.
I want to see it from proffeciaonal gaming news site such as gamespot, IGN or worthplaying. Till then its just fanboys talk.

Could someone tell me why the polls of how much the Japanese like the Xbox360 make such interesting news? I mean, I know it's a pretty dry news time right now, but I see these (outside of EA) on a regular basis. Does it all really matter until we start seeing sales?
I'm not trying to troll... I just don't understand why the gaming news sites fill a slow news day with Japanese and their not caring about Microsoft.

Except that if you read the article you'll notice that their source is Famitsu Weekly, who is notoriously unbiased and actually rather harsh to all consoles equally.

The Japanese market is brutal for American companies to break into. If MS is able to do that, more power to them!
I want more Japanese games on my XBOX, so it's a win-win for the gamer.

Or you could buy a Playstation and get a shit ton of Japanese games for it. I like my Xbox for western games (especially the 360 because I'm not going to upgrade my computer until Apocalypse makes doing so affordable) and my Sony systems for Japanese yumyums. Nintendo is a separate entity, and makes games that span cultures.

And why we all care about japan? Because Japan is nomber 1 at gaming market then america then the rest of the world (Primery Eaurope).

Now this is interesting. I have a feeling that Microsoft (note no $) is going to surprise a lot of people with their sell-through numbers in Japan.
In other news, I was in my local GameStop this evening and someone tried to pre-order an Xbox 360. The response was as follows:
"I can take your pre-order, but we cannot guarantee you'll receive your machine before February 15th of next year."
I kid you not. The manager then confirmed it when the customer questioned the accuracy of the clerk's information.

I wish the article mentioned how Famitsu got these numbers, rather just printing Famitsu's results as fact. Maybe they don't know; or more importantly don't care, as long as someone is reporting favorably about the Xbox360.
Phades

I wish the article mentioned how Famitsu go those numbers. You know, what kind of people they talked to about this, what their clothes were like and how they smelled. I care about the opinions of good smelling people much more than bad smelling ones. They also needed to make sure they were from Japan and not just visiting because that would make their opinions less relevant. Also important is the last 7 console purchases of these people. If they haven't purchased at least 7 consoles (2 of those must be handhelds) their opinions should also be disregarded.
You who are so reluctant to believe good news for Microsoft are just as ridiculous as those who jump at every bit.

Actually America is the #1 gaming market.
You sure? couse I dont remember the most powerfull gaming companies beeing american: Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Square. Although there is some (one actually, really powerfull) company called EA (not EvilAvatar), That tries to take over the world like Microsoft, but that is another story.
Sorry dude Japan is #1 gaming market. Only there you can create a game of pictures with music and text, that all you need to do is get laid as the main plot, and it will sell millions like nothing.

You see, I figured the #1 market for a product was the market where the most sold. More video games sell in America than Japan. I stand corrected. Apparently Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, and Square making more money on products they sell in the US is irrelevant. It is much more relevant that some weird games sell in Japan.
Pay attention everyone.
Weird games selling = Best market for games. Thanks for clearing that up!
Since we know the PS2 dominated everywhere, let's take a look at these apparently irrelevant statistics for the PS2 sales. 37 Million to North America, 33.21 to Europe, and 21.41 to Japan and the rest of Asia. These statistics are according to Sony who we all know to be good smelling pocky eaters and therefore worth listening to.

Just for the record, the saying is "couldn't care less". Normally I wouldn't make this kind of post, but when you get on other people about grammar, other people tend to check out yours. Plus, that particular phrase is one of my biggest pet peeves. That is all.

Your attitude is so wrong I don't even know where to begin...
Grammar:
1. It's an uppercase 'I' when writing in the first person, no exceptions.
2. When referring to a person, their name should always be First Last or Last, First - see the uppercase letters at the beginning of the first and last names?
3. It's cannot, not 'can not'
Unless, of course, English is not your first language. In which case, you're excused.
I hate it when people criticize spelling/grammar when the point being made is clear enough to understand.

It's pretty ironic isn't it. Xbox 360 will come out on the same day as Dragon Quest on PS2, which I might add, contains a demo of the new FF. Then you have Halo 3 "presumerably" (hope I spelled that correctly) coming out on the same day as the PS3. Is Sony taking pointers from Microsoft? Or creating a strategy thats taken from an old song, "Anything you can do, I can do better. Anything you can do I can do to".
Well anyway, if the fiqures are real or not, you have to admit, there are a healthy dose of Japanese games coming out on the Xbox360 that are high quality and as Carlito would say, "That's cool!".

Vindictive much? I wasn't really focusing too much on my own grammar, you know "the point being made is clear enough to understand." Of course I know all these things, I do go to a pretty good school, I just don't really pay too much attention to them on forums. However, I was having a hard time following the earlier posts. I thought he was just some rabid fanboy. I did not know he wasn't a native. Which, as you said, definitely excuses him.
Not to mention you were forgetting periods and commas like it's your job, but I get the point...

Man I am happy for the big MS. They had such a hard time breaking into the Japanese market. But you can tell this time they are trying very hard to get in with Japanese gamers. Single SKU, signing some real big names in Japanese development houses and the design of the 360. I hope they do better then last time and give Sony a good run. That can only make it better for us in North America, as in more Japanese games being released over here, I would think.

As the Japanese see the 360 getting developer support more will come on board. They clearly got a huge jump from recent press surrounding games like Armored Core. As long as those games don’t suck they’ll get market share over there.

Is it such a crime to like what Nintendo is doing for the next generation? They are actually trying something new, sure I was beyond hostile at first, but think about it, its something new! Something REVOLUTIONARY. I'm a Xbox fanboy first and for most, I'll get a 360 before any next gen console, but when a xbox fanboy such as myself can admit that, and get excited about it, you know that says something.
