With all new content from J.R.R. Tolkien's original fiction, delve deeper than ever before and engage in new battles that go beyond the award-winning movie trilogy. Wage war in the North and assume command of the most storied civilizations in all of Middle-earth history – the Elven and Dwarven armies – or fight on the side of Evil with heroes and creatures that have never been seen in The Lord of the Rings films. Defend or overtake never before seen lands such as Dol Guldur, The Misty Mountains, and Mirkwood as you unleash powerful new weapons and abilities - summon dragons, cause volcanoes to erupt, or bring down a cataclysmic lightning strike.

A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and get excited about these screenshots, but it is not this day!

Looks nice, like the first one. If it plays like the first one, I'll be avoiding it like the plague!

I am actually looking forward to this game. I played the original, and while pretty fun, the strategic depth didn't last beyond four hours. It felt like it needed an expansion pack.

All this talk about stuff not seen in the movies reminds me that I still need to go back and finish those stinking books.

Actually, I've read the 3 books and the hobbit and they don't cover the northern battles much at all. Maybe its information filled in via the Silmarilian.
Anyways, I loved the first one. Multiplayer skirmish is the key though. You get some friends going 2 v 2 and its an absolute blast. There's also a zillion map mods out in the community to keep the skirmishes fun.

Wicked tricksy false ??
I dunno, looks ok, but I think a game like this needs to follow a formula more like Rome Total War. It's lack of depth and tactics was it's downside. But it's Lord of the Rings, so how can I possibly say no ? Just a pity it's EA....
