Ars Technica has a short news item here (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20050921-5337.html) about a new plague that has been unleashed upon players in World of Warcraft. It seems a debuff cast by one of the bosses in the new Zul'Grub instance is being intentionally spread by players in major cities in WoW.
From the article: What happened next was something Blizzard did not expect. Some of the players who had gone into the instance emerged back into the main world of Azeroth, and started spreading the Corrupted Blood disease to others who they came into close contact with.I have not experienced this for myself yet, any Evil Avatar readers out there had their characters killed by this?

I thought this had already been discovered/resolved last week (or early this week)? I think there was already a hot fix, but I'm not completely in the LOOP any more with WoW. :)

They put up a hotfix that didn't end up solving the problem. I'm not sure if it's still happening or not.

Everyone realizes that this is the the preliminary stuff to massive, DotHackish "Viral AIs Gone Wild" crap, yes?
Because it is, you know...

Yes, and if I recall correctly the first post even had a video.
It was funny a few days ago. Stopped caring a few days ago. Then again, I'm still taking the time to post to this thread. I blame the laundry I'm currently doing due to society's pressure on me to have "clean clothes."

Evil. You and your editors are getting lazy (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5467).
Let's not let this place become Slashdot, k? :D

It's a good thing that all of us are Assistant Editors. Sometimes makes you wonder if you guys read this site as much as the rest of us do. BTW I want a raise and an office with a view and my own secretary, make it a hot secretary (not Perigon) I'll take Kelegacy cause his ass is like a jackhammer.

no, this is new, because it is talking about the fix that was posted that didn't work, and how the plague continues. so while not 'new', it is an update to previously posted news.
If you guys have such interesting news of your own, post it.

See, the thing is that this wasn't even interesting the first time.

It was a little interesting the first time. If there's a new wrinkle, that should ideally be spelled out in the summary. It was pretty unclear, and it sounded like the same thing yet was labeled 2nd. Maybe a "2nd outbreak" rather than a "2nd plague" would have been more correct?

I'm not a WoW player, but this almost sounds like it could be a gameplay feature.

The plague, which has not become an issue on my server, does 382 damage every five seconds. It is clear that those who are "Carriers" are doing so intentionally. No one would accidentally bring that back to town.
Blizzard made a mistake allowing this to be spread to NPCs. One mage can infect the four corners of the world in minutes.

It was either post this or a link (and photo) to the 2006 Blitz Cheerleaders Calendar (http://www.blitzleague.com/cheerleader_glam.html).

It was a tough call, but I think I made the right decision.

Bliz made a stupid mistake in their update and because of it the crap has hit the fan. Anyone who has played WoW for any length of time knows there's nothing new or interesting about that. Just another reason to yell and rant about how much Bliz sucks at fixing problems with WoW despite the mountains of cash they get from us every month.

Dude, I don't think this is even annoying. It's a pretty cool thing to happen honestly. Got me to restart my account and have fun in WoW. I even got a level last night :)
