Looks like FarCry Instincts went gold yesterday and nobody said a word about it.
Coinciding with the gold announcement is the gold trailer and *gold* screenshots (http://www.farcrygame.com/us/).
San Francisco, CA - September 20, 2005 - Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced that Far Cry Instincts™ has gone gold. Preorder your copy now and receive Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® 3 free. Preorders are available at the following locations: Ubisoft store website, Electronics Boutique, GameStop, GameCrazy, GameRush and Hastings.
Far Cry Instincts ships exclusively for the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft September 27, 2005. The game has an ESRB rating of "M" for Mature and a MSRP of $49.99.
Just as Far Cry® redefined the First-Person Shooter genre for the PC, Far Cry Instincts™ will take things a step even further with its wide open environments and unique immersive gameplay elements. Developed by Ubisoft's renowned Montreal studio, Far Cry Instincts™ takes the PC version's signature locations, and unprecedented view-distance, and combines them with improved gameplay scenarios that will challenge players to utilize an even broader range of strategies and survival tactics to uncover the many secrets within the beautiful, but deadly islands.
Following the precedence heralded by Ghost Recon and then Rainbow6, the FarCry brand is the next in line to make a grab for the big money on the consoles.
Release Date: 09/27/2005 (XBOX (http://www.gametab.com/xbox/far.cry.instincts/2788/))

Yeah, I didn't even notice it until word of the trailer got around early this morning. If the Ubi site happens to be too slow, the Gold trailer can be downloaded here (http://www.filerush.com/download.php?target=FCI_gold_trailer_hi.wmv). It basically just gives you a heads up to the storyline and offers some really nice in-game footage.

So does this mean that hiding in the jungle won't be necessary in the next Far Cry, and will in fact lead to your death?

Considering the AI is absolutely lost in translation apparently , this has turned into more of a run-and-gun shooter than anything else, i had high hopes for this...but alas...UBIsoft disappointed me again, i dont like where theyre going with their games, if ti werent for 13 year old fanboys they would`ve gone bankrupt by now

Ubisoft had a string of really good games: Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia, Far Cry. But now it feels like they've pulled an EA and run them into the ground. Ah well, hopefully Far Cry 2 will be an improvement upon the first instead of a regression.
Didn't you know?
Ubi is French for EA.
Get used to it, because if they're making money, there's no reason to change for a bunch of grumblers on the internet forums.

Vivendi is french for EA(or surrender), ubi is french for... also surrender. Most french words either mean surrender, have to do with the making of white flags, or have some sort of dual meaning, such as vivendi or 'bonjour', which means "hello" and "I surrender" all at the same time.
Phhhh

Previews I've seen (at eurogamer and gamespot I believe) have been positive. I'd try it before I'd buy it though.

I hated the Xbox demo, they ruined the game, I'm a huge pc Far Cry fan, and the fact that they ripped the soul from Far Cry, and replaced it with a distinct lack of fun.

Oh how I loved this game on PC, I might re-install it on my new machine and play it again. It's a shame that they dumbed it down for consoles, though I still don't know how people can play FPS's on consoles anyway, there's no flick, no feel.
Nothing like the feeling of a flick headshot, but that's just my opinion!

I would have fidured that a straight port of the game would do more justice, hell they even had the damn check-point save style as many console games.

I had no idea I was playing a souless construct from the pit of hell...
Did you really even play the demo? It was pretty short. What was so much better in the PC version that you could tell? I've played a little of the first one and liked it, maybe the AI was better, but that is the only difference I could tell from how short the demo was. That and the check points were added.

Beyond good and evil is a GREAT game that just didn't get the attention it deserved, I can't wait for the sequel to that game, that truley is one of the games I am VERY proud of owning.

i was really excited about this, as my rig can barely cope under the strain of FC. but i watched a vid a couplea days ago and i was distinctly underwhelmed. that combined with the fact that the levels are much more linear and the enemies not as clever :-/ think i'll leave this, now. until i've played a demo @ least.

If you say that about all games then your not exactly a huge games fan if you only play the one format.

I like a few games on the PS2 (God of War, GTA, Splinter Cell). The Xbox is a waste of time and money. And for the record there is not a single console FPS to date, that comes anywhere close to rivalling even the lowliest FPS on the PC.

I think he was responding to my earlier post.
I might rent this to give it a try, but if the AI and levels are dumbed down, like you say, then that's part of the FC experience already DOA. Part of the joy of Far Cry was how vast and open the levels felt, and how often the enemies would manage to flank you, or surprise you. If the game has turned into a straight up run and gun, then it's another game in Far Cry's skin. I'll hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

Sorry for the double post, but I just read that one. Flame on indeed! If you're throwing lines like that around, John Romero obviously never made you his bitch.

The reason i didn't like it is because it was so much more of a run and gun shooter, and Far Cry, was about using tactics, because if you didnt the game raped you, you had to be at least somewhat smart about ammo, and all that other good stuff. I dunno everyone's entitled, and i think that includes me, I'm not exactly sure how the system works but I'm thinking thats how. In Instincs I just ran around shooting shit, and as much as I love Halo, they tried to Halo-ize Far Cry, I'm all for Halo but not in my Rainbow Six, and not in Far Cry.

Seems like a tough sell for ANY xbox games with the 360 around the corner.

Ha ha ha. Take off your blinders for just a second little boy. You are honestly trying to tell me that a great game like Halo 2 isn't as good as a valusoft FPS.
Your loss I guess.

3 words: mouse and keyboard

Yeah the controls are much better for FPS games but that doesn't mean the game is instantly better.

why the hell not
lets see what we have here :
mouse and keyboard = better controls
more ram = prettier textures
more cpu = tougher enemies (atleast in far cry`s case)
ive played halo 2 co-op , one of the VERY FEW shooters i`ve played on a console....its shit, darkwatch and area 51 are tonnes better....and they both have ENDINGS

Everyone says that mouse and keyboard but that bullshit isn't for everyone. Maybe for my rts and rpgs but i find mouse and keyboard for twitchy fps games ass.

Wow, wow, wow, lets not say anything about Halo we can't take back. But yeah darkwatch is good, but I do not like Area-51. And I'm hurting on the inside because you've said its better than one of my favourite games ever. Why would you do that to me..why?

I don't agree with the RPG better on K + M arguement. Years ago 2D JRPGs worked great on a pad and any RPGs that have been 3D have been great on a pad (I thought KOTOR played better on a pad, I didn't have to keep pausing to click on fiddly little attact icons, or on the arrows to scroll though the attacks I had like I did on the PC version) the only better for RPG arguement I agree with is with the isometric RPGs of the late 90's (which I doubt we'll ever see again) but they were designed to be mouse driven. The gameplay experience in them wasn't any deeper due to K + M, it was deep simply due to the fact they were well made games (people have said to me before that they thought they were deeper because you were using a mouse but I just can't see how they came up with that).
FPS RPGs like Morrowind I sort of agree with, but its not quite the same as FPS games as you don't really require that degree of accuarcy in those games. K + M doesn't hurt though.

Are you sure you`re talking about Halo 2? rather than the orignal? cuz that was better.
Anyway ...name one thing halo 2 has to offer that other shooters dont, besides online play, since i am on low-band i dont give a shit about it.

Its not about what it "offers", its how it plays, oh my in hl2 i can pick up a brick and shoot it. Wow sure HL2 is a great game but thats the only thing it offers that other shooters don't so does that make it a bad game? Your logic is flawed, different shooters play differently. So lets not going around with flawed logic.
