Several (http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=194768) sites (http://www.gamesdog.co.uk/news/news.phtml/7680/8704/God-Of-War-3-E3.phtml) are (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=11079&Itemid=53) reporting (http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/3291.html) that there will be some kind of announcement about God of War 3 at this year's E3. While the game isn't expected anytime soon, a trailer along with some concrete details are possible.
The quote in question is a translated one, and although it's rough, it's making the Internet rounds at lightning speed:
"Sony Computer Entertainment disclosed, throughout the Interactive event and Digital Entertainment Festival that is to elapse in Paris, that God Of War III goes to be presented in the E3. The company did not want to give many details, but probably, no longer next month to July, we will go to know the first details and to see the first trailer of so waited game."

Obviously this is rampant speculation, and likely we won't get anything more than a teaser, but this game is HUGE for the PS3, and any information is better than nothing. The big question is: who is the director? David Jaffe and Cory Barlog have left fairly large shoes to fill.

And I will buy this game no matter what, unless it sucks of course:P
Seriously. GoW3 can't be easy to make. The first 2 were so great and good looking, I hope there's more to it than just better looking.

GoW2 was great but it was a little too much of the same. Hopefully they'll add some new elements and gameplay in GoW3 rather than just make a HD GoW.

All three games so far have been pretty much the something, other than a few weapon changes. Here is to hoping they add something really new and cool.
Edit: Yeti beat me by a minute...

It'd be nice to see it within the next 12 months. I still need to play the PSP game, though.

Showing something at E3 does not mean much. If earlier E3's are any indication, we'll get a pre-rendered video for a game that isn't coming out for another 2-3 years.
Yay more advantures with Kratos!
Never had a PS2 but since my PS3 has bc I bought GoW1 and 2 and they rock hard. Awesome graphics for such an old console.

Too Human was first shown at E3 in 1999
I just want to ask, would anyone be surprised? This strikes me more as an issue of "when" and not "if."

Exactly. We know the game is in development. We know that Sony wants to build hype. I'm still waiting for Killzone II and Final Fantasy, shown off in 2005... three years ago.

I'd be surprised if this was anything later than Fall 2009.

The GoW PSP game is really good especially for a portable game. I think controls are even better by changing the roll/evade maneuver to use the sholder button (vs the right analog stick which the PSP does not have).

Frankly, I grew bored of it. It had the same enemies and patterns as the first two titles, and felt like a complete copy/paste. Impressive for a handheld? Sure, but that's disn't wash away the feeling of 'been there / done that twice before'.

Yeah, that's what I hear, and the demo played very well. I just have more than a few portable games on my plate right now (Brave Story, FFT: WotL, Front Mission, FF3, Lunar Knights, and a few GBA games) so I can't really justify another $40 purchase.

that seems about right and would fall into Sony's release date schedule... assuming Killzone comes out in early 09 and FFXIII comes out in summer of 09...

Yoinks, I'm pretty late to this party. I just picked up a copy of the first one...I'll play that through once I finish Metal Gear. Sounds like the PSP game isn't anything special?

The PSP game is just fine, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Damn you IMDB memorable quotes! Damn you to hell!
This is the game that I own a PS3 for. Please, please, let it be good.
When I bought the first God of War, I had read nothing about it, heard nothing about it, and seen absolutely no footage of it in action. I bought it based partially on the title and partly on the tv commercial, which is something I never do. Having absolutely no expectations, it turned out to be one of my favorite games ever to grace the PS2. I still adore it and the sequel to this day.

It'll be as epic as the closing cut scene in God of War 2.
