Fantasy Flight games have added World of Warcraft : The Boardgame (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/worldofwarcraft.html) to their site. Have a look if you are a hardcore fan of the game or just like boardgames.
Are you ready to explore the misty eaves of the Silverpine Forest, the hills of the Hinterlands, or the rotten corruption of the Plaguelands? Are you ready to set forth on a great adventure, building your skills and prowess while collecting equipment and artifacts of legend and power? Are you ready to set yourself against the overwhelming will of a great enemy such as Kel’Thuzad or the mighty Nefarian? Above all, are you ready to lead your faction to honor and dominance of Azeroth?
Finally a Murloc miniature! Now you can play WoW even when you have no PC.

Or during the regular server maintenance...

yes, but can I draw a 'bug' card and have my chracter get booted off a server? Or how about Lag cards?

Hmmmm now how are they going to release the patches for this? I guess that's expansion books!

This game was on demo at GenCon, it actually seemed like a really well done boardgame, far above the junk they released as the Warcraft III boardgame.

Holy CRAP! $80?!? That's almost the price of a whole set of D&D 3.5 cores!

The collectible card game seems more enticing.

And I believe Tim Buckley did that CAD Comic before the board game was announced...
I like the idea of the CCG better, since you can get actual in-game items.

Well, at least you won't have to pay a monthly fee to play it.

World of Warcraft, the FLAAAAAME-Thrower!

That's just dumb!

...does it have night elves on it? Oh, yeah? ...And where can I buy it?

Did anyone see the rules for the game? Forty friggin pages of rules and explanations of how everything works. Minimum requirement will probably not be a P4 or an Athlon processor but a PhD.

I'd buy 'em. :D

Well, maybe not the flamethrower. The kid would find a way to get at it and burn the house down, I'm sure. That wouldn't be good.

M'eh. I figure if you're savvy enough to handle the intricacies of the MMOG, you can handle a 40 page rulebook for the boardgame.

Personally I think I'll pick this up when I get the cash. Looks fun.

I saw this game at GenCon but didn't get a chance to play. They have another game (Descent) that costs $80 that I picked up and if this is anywhere near the size of that, believe me, you get a lot for your money.

To Daemon: If you can't handle 40 pages of rules I feel sorry for you, that's pretty standard. Maybe you'd be better off playing Chutes and Ladders :P

How about I just stick to the real game?

But really, for people that are just novices, (that means me, I don't even remember the last time I played a board game), what do you think the learning curve of this thing would be? I know this is getting to be off topic, but this seems overwhelming. Perhaps it's just geared towards the hardcore, raised on D&D, crowd.

I'm just a fan of Warcraft, not much else.

The game also costs 80$ American. They're not going for the casual gamer, too much.

These are the guys who made Twilight Imperium, mind you. Flawed as heck (stupid friggin' victory points), but really fun to play.

I think I would sooner swallor razor blades than play this game.

From memory, the comic was a reaction to the initial announcement. It was a while ago.

Damn straight.

And then I got a bit older, and got into Warhammer instead, and I had a ready-made Bloodthirster! Woooooo!

Heroquest was great. Theres a fan-made PC version now... I think the underdogs has it since it's freeware.

Man, that game must have been made shortly after Hero Quest came out. It was....... clunky, to say the least. (And that's clunky for a turn based board game replica. Things have sure come a long way.)

Never been that big on figurines. Now card collecting... oh man, that gets me hot.
