The weekend is here! Lots of stuff to play and do. Movies to be seen, sheds to clean out, and games to be played. What will you be playing this weekend?

I'll be playing some Team Fortress 2 and Age of Conan. Perhaps if I finally feel like spending some money I still need to get Mario Kart, although GRID looks nice and convenient on steam, I need a controller though.

A ton of Disgaea 2. Maybe some Bioshock and more of my second MGS4 playthrough, but Disgaea 2 will be my main distraction. I'm enjoying it a lot more than the first game for some reason.

Trading away The Orange Box on Tuesday over Goozex, so I'm going to try and see if I can get a few hours of TF2 in. I haven't really devoted and real time to it and since it always gets such high praise, I figure I might as well give it a shot. I'm also planning on trying to finish up HL2: Episode 2, as I'm about 2 hours in right now and just sort of stopped playing. Hasn't really grabbed my interest for some reason.

Hopefully I'll get some God of War on the PSP in as well.

Oh that...It's Snake's son, who had been made from Snake's DNA that was harvested in the 2nd metal gear. There is a genetic mutation in the son though and that's why he looks like a hairless monkey...but he sure has some crazy moves huh?

Well, I just got done playing "ZOMG, power is teh fucked." This morning the power went wonky, seemed almost like a brown-out. Messing around with the breakers gave mixed results, I was afraid it was the wiring in the house, but went around back to the pole only to find that the digital meter had no numbers. Called a friend of the family who knows about electrical matters, and he said that if the meter didn't have numbers on it, then the problem was likely on the power company's end, so I had to call them and have'em come out to the house. A wire had broken on the pole, but they fixed it pretty quick. Then my 'net wasn't working for some reason, and I had to call the cable company to get that fixed.

Now that everything is up and running again, I can get this weekend back on track. Me and my girlfriend are planning to go out this weekend to play pool, air hockey, and bowl. I'm hoping she'll come up tonight as well and hang out, watch some movies (Bubba Ho-tep, Clue, and Rocky Horror was what sounded interesting to her and also thematic). Outside of that, I'm planning on playing some TF2 and possibly Bioshock.

TF2 [PC] hopefully. Some Rainbow Six Vegas 2 [360] for sure.

The main focus of this weekend will be Shadowrun [PC]...who knew that it shared it's achievements with the 360...unlike Gears of War, it's not a separate list, you work towards the achievements on both machines.

Now, the question is, on the PC, do I use the mouse and keyboard or do I use a 360 controller...I just feel like I need more than the 5 buttons my mouse provides :(

Need to finish up New Super Mario Bothers on the DS and chip away at GTA4 after a brief intermission. May end up playing some WoW, but we'll see. I have a feeling none of these things are going to happen and I'm going to keep hammering away at Rock Band, but who knows.

Dipped my feet back into GTA this week, so hopefully get some missions accomplished without getting sidetracked and going on killing sprees. My girlfriend said she hates it when I sit down to play it (and she happens to see me ) because I almost always wind up deviating from the main game and start going loco. It's tremendous fun, but it means I never accomplish much with the main story.

Anyway, besides that I hope my Mass Effect and DMC4 copies come in today or tomorrow. Ordered from Gamefly on Monday or Tuesday...now just hoping they get here soon so I can sink my teeth into them this weekend.

Also, maybe Lost Planet. I love the explosions in that game. Not too too far into it either.

Riding the bike into the dealer today for the 600 mile service. Called them earlier in the week to make the appointment and now I'm up to 750 miles.

Going to try to get back into PA:OTRSPOD.
Reloaded Diablo2 when I read about the no-CD patch; probably play that a bit. Just killed the Smith but I think his hammer spwned inside of a wall! :(
Downloaded the demo for Hellgate: London and have been playing around with that.

I'll probably be doing a bunch of house and yard work since I've been partying and traveling for the last 4 weekends or so. Lots of things have been left undone and it looks like it! :(

Ha, getting 120 stars with Mario and Luigi was pretty much my entire Christmas holiday.

I'm gearing up for MGS3 and 4 back-to-back, but I have a lot of administrative BS to get through in the next couple days and starting Metal Gear before finishing the boring stuff would be disastrous (although I couldn't help watching the MGS4 intro briefing and fooling around in the VR Practice Area)

Definitely going to check out the latest demos in between bouts of work...already spent time with Battlefield Bad Company (pretty impressive, if I had Gamefly I would put it in the queue) and Capcom's new Commandos game (yet another two-analog-stick shooter--the demo level I played was essentially Assault Heroes, honestly if I hadn't just played both games I don't think I'd be able to tell screenshots of the two apart).

And I may pick something out of the DS backlog. Just finished Hotel Dusk, I'm thinking next up should be Lunar Knights, or maybe I should take another stab at beating Metroid Prime Pinball...I've been stuck at the last level for quite some time.

I had to fight with all my might not to pick up Etrian Odyssey 2 today. I'm kind of tight on cash right now and given the fact that a) EO2 is essentially a slightly shinier version of the first game, b) the final strata in EO2 is supposed to be crap and c) I haven't even come close to finishing the first Etrian Odyssey, I had to put it down.

I did pick up Space Invaders Extreme for the PSP as I've heard it borders on Lumines levels of awesome, which is great. I need a few more pick up and play games like that.

So my plans are to work on TWEWY (I'm on day 4 of the final week) on the DS, zone out playing Space Invaders Extreme and maybe some Killzone Liberation or FFT: WotL on the PSP and as much MGS4 as I can stay conscious for on the PS3. That is, if I can tear myself away from the insanely addictive MGS Database!

I'm starting to think Disgaea 2 is a lot shorter in the main story than the first game. I'm nearly done with Chapter 8 (I'm pretty sure there's 13 total) and I'm only 15 hours into the game. I haven't done any side stuff like the item world or anything but I also don't want to overpower myself to the point that the main storyline is a cakewalk. Hopefully there's some kind of extra stuff to do postgame that keeps me interested afterwards or else it'll be on to Persona 3 FES.

I'm with you on that one!!! While this is primarily an MGS4 weekend my queue is as follows (not including casual games):
Xbox 360: GTA4 (21% done), R6LV (on act 6...impossible lone wolf mission), Lost Odyssey (almost done w/disk 1), Oblivion, Marvel Ultimate alliance (Just started..wanted a change of pace from the "heavy" games.) I also want to finish Gears before Gears II comes out and eventually finish Command and Conquer.

PS3: MGS4 (of course) and I bought Resistance but haven't cracked it yet.

PSP: God of War (probably about 1/3 way through), Final Fantasy Tactics (just started) and MGS - Portable ops plus (just bought used yesterday.)

And of course certain of them don't work well on work nights as I have limited time to play and don't want to be caught up in a long time between saves when I have to go to bed (lest I be a zombie at work the next day....not good!!!)

BTW: The vegetarian restaurant I mentioned last night was excellent...even the omnivore in the group enjoyed it!!!

PS3: Indiana Jones Lego
Wii: Zelda and Wii Fit
Xbox 360: Age of Conan
PC: The Witcher

I have to admit, the only Metal Gear I have played was the first one (not solid, think NES). I have never owned a Playstation. Nintendo all the way! GTA 4 again. Think I'm pushing 60 odd% Have to admit, some of the missions have actually really impressed me. There's still a large lack of variety in the structure, but there's been some fairly tight shoot-outs.

Twin Snakes was great unless you're an absolute purist.

If you've never owned a Playstation and can snag an 80 or 60 GB unit, it would be almost worth getting a PS3 in order to play some of the great games on the PS2 (see: Turning The Spigot: The Obscure Game Threads for recommendations... EVERY SUNDAY NIGHT!)... or you could just drop $120 and get a PS2.

The PS3 has a few good exclusives but I can literally count them on one hand right now. Seeing how you have a 360 and are NOT a huge Metal Gear fan, I'd hold off until at least later this year. I'm sure there will be a big Christmas bundle in the fall and by then some more exclusives will have hit the system.

Of course, if you're jonesing for a Blu-Ray player, just grab a PS3 instead :)

This is my first Metal Gear game as well. I watched the GameTrailers retrospective, read a magazine that was put out a month or two ago with the history and been checking out the Database in order to catch up with the cannon.

I actually decided a few months ago that when the MGS4 bundle comes out it would a good time to jump into the PS3 (I've had a 360 since Nov '06.) Last Friday (the day after it came out) I walked into my local Best Buy and there was an MGS4 bundle sitting right there....so I picked it up and took it strait to the register. I'm pleased with both the game and the unit. I think it is better built than the 360 (not surprising as Sony has always done high quality hardware) although Live is still ahead of the PSN. My only on-line game experience so far on the PSN was a quick game of the Quake Wars demo...seemed to work fine.

Yeah, I have been using the 360 with the HD-DVD addon for my dvd player and I don't really have enough plugs in my entertainment system to support a 360, PS3, Wii, Directv DVR, TV etc. Plus we know what happened to HD-DVD. Not to mention the 360 gets a little loud sometimes and if I get a RROD, I am out a DVD player as well. On a side note, I had a dream I put my 360 on eBay last night and it sold for $89...NOOOO!

Yeah. I snagged my 60 GB PS3 unit used about a week or two ago. I traded in a stack of games and only had to pay out $100 in real money for the thing, so it was worth it for me :)

It's a nice secondary system and I'm loving MGS4. Anyone who says the PSN is better than Live needs a boot to the head though, and you MUST get a Dualshock 3 unless you are a weakling or hate rumble :)

Can you subscribe to podcasts through RSS on the PS3? If I could do that, even just to click and stream, directly from the PS3, it would be really worth it. I currently have to have a computer on all the time to stream to the x360.
