Neil Young Departure from Electronic Arts Confirmed

Electronic Arts has today confirmed the departure of industry veteran Neil Young from the company. Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=11024&Itemid=2) has the details:

[Neil] Young had been with EA for over a decade, but his tenure there ended recently when, according to a leaked internal memo, he decided to leave to manage his own company.

An EA spokesperson said Thursday, "I can confirm Neil’s departure and add that in addition to his creative input, Neil distinguished himself as a team leader.

"In particular, he stepped in to rally the development teams and lead a turnaround at EA Los Angeles.

"Neil has a lot of tools he needs to be a successful entrepreneur – great creative instincts, great communicator and great leadership skills."

Young was most recently leading EA's new Blueprint initiative. He led triple-A projects while with the megapublisher, including The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Sims 2, Medal of Honor Airborne and Boom Blox.
A definite loss for Electronic Arts.
