From EvAV's own Kefkataran comes this post on 1UP.com (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3168268):
You may have heard last week that EGM Live, our Monday podcast, was undergoing some changes (http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=8765045&publicUserId=4549029). Today we're happy to reveal the final result of those changes: 1UP FM (http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3149975). In this new show, hosted by 1UP young guns Nick Suttner (http://rocksolidaudio.1up.com/) and Philip Kollar (http://kefkataran.1up.com/), we bring you short, fast segments that are stuffed full of information delivered by a cast of characters from all across the 1UP universe.
In our first segment, Ryan Scott (http://gfwryan.1up.com/) joins us to talk about the new week's game releases in Shelf Life and dish about the LucasArts layoffs. Our feature of the week is an interview with Chris Sholz of Shaba Games, the team working on Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3167444). Jeremy Parish (http://jparish.1up.com/) gives us his alternate list of top five worst JRPG character names (http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3168194), and Richard Li (http://heday.1up.com/) becomes our personal Elite Cheat Agent for Ninja Gaiden 2 (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3162695). Finally, David Ellis (http://lybertyboy.1up.com/) and Mike Cruz (http://egmcruz.1up.com/) hop in for an off-topic discussion about the new Incredible Hulk movie. Plus be sure to stick around after the credits for a bonus segment.
Yes, EGM Live is finally dead. But, if this first episode is any indication, it was well worth it. I look forward to future episodes of 1UP FM (http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3149975).

1:23:36 is rather lengthy.
Any chance you've thought of shoehorning it down to an hour?

They probably have a lot to say for there first show, my guess is it will shorten to under an hour in later shows.
But on another note, common 1up five your RSS feed before you release a new show, your itunes link still says EGM Live and doesn't have the new show listed.

You can always stop listening at the 1 hour mark, while the rest of us can continue to enjoy. ;)

Would saying "less Shane is always a good thing" be bad? :)

I stopped listening to the EGM podcast months ago only because of Jennifer Tsao's voice. While she may be a great person in real life, her voice over the podcast grated my nerves and I couldn't take it.
Also, I can barely deal with Shane on the 1up yours podcast, I didn't need a double dose of his drooling fanboy rants.

Yes. Yes, it would.
It would also be entirely correct.
It's a difficult balance, really.

I wasn't complaining, I was simply posing an honest question. I'm a lot more likely to listen to something and stay current if it's in easily digestible chunks.

An hour is what we're looking to do for the main show. But most shows will run around this long total for the bonus segment, our Pile of Shame-esque thing.
That said, the show is still in easily digestible chunks -- very segmented and such.
Would love some feedback from the EvAv community!

Off-topic: Come to PAX!
On-topic: I liked the first five minutes, I'll be listening to the rest on my way to work tomorrow.

I actually miss the time when Tsao was the main host for EGM Live*.
Her voice also irritated me at first, but I grew to like it in only a few episodes, and I think she put a very different atmosphere to the podcast than is on the other 1UP podcasts.
Anyway, good first episode. I look forward to more 1UP FM, though I would have preferred the name "Super Audio Brothers" or rather, "Super Radio Brothers":D

Excellent. I'll give it the once over tonight and then come back to complain about everyone who isn't you.

Hey Kef, now that you have some juice, how about adding some basic AAC podcasting functionality to the 1up cast? I'm not asking for anything fancy, just bookmarks for the various segments and maybe a SS or box art on the topic of discussion? A simple picture, updated every 10 min or so would be awesome, again nothing fancy, something along the lines of Jay and Jack maybe.
I multitask when listening to lots of casts and sometimes I need to backtrack 5 min to remember what the topic was, or I'll miss the transition onto the next game/topic.

I can mention to Skip, and I think it's been requested before, but with the huge number of podcasts he helps put together, plan, and edit, I'm not sure it's feasible. There also might be restrictions because of the file types 1UP uses -- would adding that functionality prevent non-iTunes users from listening? (I'm asking because I honestly have no idea)

Impressions: Loved the release list. Loved the "failed show titles" and the Dev Interview is solid shit.
This simply reaffirms my man crush on you, Phil.
You'd better not fuck it up.

We should probably wake TK. If she misses us going gay, her head may explode.
I really wish you could throw in a Dev interview like this every week. I'm really enjoying it.

Now for the criticism.
The cheat segment was completely worthless. I understand you want to include those guys but man that was painful to listen to. I'd try a different angle or way to present it.
The top five was cute but nothing that hasn't been done before. A countdown list segment! Groundbreaking!
I think your movie reviews (if it's going to be a weekly segment) could use a bit more structure. It seemed to go on a lot longer than was interesting. It could be that the other guys on the segment just grated on my fucking nerves after a bit. I *completely* stopped enjoying it about 5 minutes before you wrapped it up.
But overall I'll definitely listen again and your "back to the stack"/"pile of shame" segment has some potential.

Yeah, switching to AAC instead of MP3 would screw over some users. That said, you could always make a new podcast stream just for the AAC format, though that involves more work for Skip. ;)

I'm unable this podcast through iTunes. All other 1up podcasts work fine, but this one refuses to download. Anyone else with this problem?

Ah, I didn't know one guy edited all the podcasts...that would be asking a lot, even for a small group of people. As far as the AAC functionality breaking players/agregators, I really have no idea, but I've seen a lot of casts where they just have two streams, an AAC and an MP3.
However, if your player/agregator supports AAC, you should always be able to get the audio, even if you don't take advantage of the visual metadata.
