Follwing a trip to sunny California, Editor-in-Chief Everlost_MI has brought us back his Hands-On Preview (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5432) of Activision and Raven Software's upcoming DOOM 3-engine shooter, Quake 4.
The basic storyline for Quake 4 involves your character, Matthew Kane an elite solider, being added to the Rhino Squad that are en route to the Strogg home world in an effort to deliver the final blow before they can regroup. The game features vehicle warfare as well as fighting alone and alongside various marines while on foot. However, the crux of the game is being captured and transformed against your will into a Strogg. It’s with this newly acquired curse of being transformed into a Strogg, that you will be able to finish what your marine counterparts started.Click Here (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5432) for the full article.

I second Nameback's comment above. I love that there's more in-house content and I look forward to seeing much more of it.
I may even write a review of my own soon, if that's okay with everyone.

What, my mouse review doesn't get a place in the in house block? :(

Of course it does! :)
I love that you, Everlost, Evil, etc. are all actively involved in the site and your interests are such that it makes for a very well-balanced group when it comes to covering everything from mice to games and everything in between.

Is anyone else surprised by the total lack of hype for Quake IV? Is this because of Doom 3 perhaps?
Any thoughts?

In general or just today? I think if this topic had been posted on any other day there would be a lot more interest in it. People are too busy getting their panties in a bunch with the Revolution to even notice.

And what were you eating? Revolution-shaped cookies?? Given the shape of the Rev controller, they'd be great for dipping in milk or beer. :D

That's a good point.
Still, I haven't seen this game get much attention in general. Especially compared to Quake III or Doom 3.

I'll give you an amen. I really haven't seen much hype for Quake IV in general. Perhaps Doom 3's lackluster reception IS to blame.

The less hype the better. We can all be pleasantly surprised if it's awesome instead of disappointed b/c of unrealistic expectations.

Another good point. Being a Quake title I really don't care if it is 'good' or not, as they have never been my cup of tea. The lack of attention though just has me curious. iD titles have always been coupled with tons and tons of fanfare, and this game is barely making a whimper anywhere.

If its as fun as Quake 3 then it'll be worth it. I've been playing 1600x1200 with 4x AA at 100+ fps. Blood and Guts that I can actually see and bath in though I should probably seek professional help for that. The characters are low poly though but its a smooth game to waste time and build skills.
