View Full Version : Did Any Revolution Mock-ups Get It Right?

In the myriad of fan created Nintendo Revolution mock-ups over the last few years, did any of them get it right? We don’t see temperature zones, or touch screens; there does not appear to be gyroscopes that push against your hand when you turn. In fact, did any of the fan mock-ups come close? GamesFirst has a first impressions response (http://www.gamesfirst.com/?id=679) to the Nintendo Revolution controller that focuses in part on which, if any, of the Revolution mock-ups seemed to be on the right track. Apparently, there was at least one.

The only fan mock-up that even seemed to come close to reality was this one here showing two egg-shaped items that were held in each hand; I happen to remember this one specifically because it's the only mock-up that I publicly called silly...

I get to eat my words, now. They are tasty and delicious.

I considered and dismissed something similar. I thought that if the console had RF receivers, they might be able to triangulate the controller position. It didn't seem like it would be accurate enough, nor scale to multiple players well.

My thoughts exactly...heh, its amazing how negative the raction is and noone here has used it. This is like how everyone was trashing the DS after it was revealed saying its stupid, retarded, not innovative, kills 3rd party, "... doesn't have anything, at all, anyone would ever want" But is handsomly outselling the PSP, because ... Oh my gosh, its FUN.

I think it's a fantastic controller. I'm really really stoked about it.

Nonetheless, it pretty clearly falls under the heading of madness.
It's insanity. Awesome insanity, but insanity nonetheless.
