GRAVITY INTERACTIVE'S NEW MMOG, ROSE ONLINE WILL ALLOW GAMERS TO WAGE INTERPLANETARY WAR
MARINA DEL REY, CA, Sept. XX, 2005 - Gravity Interactive, a developer and distributor of massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs), is rolling out ROSE Online, a deep impact game that allows players to inhabit the star system, wage interplanetary war and rule the galaxy.
Unlike other MMOGs, ROSE Online will immerse players into a universe with access not only to distant lands, but also distant worlds. The imaginative universe of ROSE Online consists of seven unique planets. Each planet has its own set of particular environments and characteristics.
ROSE Online is one of the few MMOGs targeted at the teen and tween audience. The game provides a safe, fun medium for adventuring and socializing for today's internet savvy and sophisticated youth. ROSE Online will thrust players into a rich storyline and allow them to interact in ways much different from traditional MMOGs.
Players will have the option to join factions or guilds. Every faction has a level of control on the economy, politics, public orders, magic, arts and religion. Within each faction, separatist alliances can be formed by players. Rather than a small-scale war, guilds unite to fight for the fate of an entire planet.
"Our goal is to make games and services that bring people together and enrich their lives," said Peter Kang, Executive Director of Gravity Interactive. "Combining the sophisticated elements found in some MMO games with a cartoon, fairy-tale environment, ROSE Online provides a compelling game experience for a young user demographic."
Published by Korea-based Gravity Corp., the game will launch in North America in Q4 2005. The North America release follows the game's already successful debut in Asia and Europe.
One interesting aspect of ROSE Online is that players can commandeer an array of vehicles. They can traverse the landscape using a cart uniquely built for their character, or take to the air in a flying vessel. The invention of ROSE Online's mobile armament, Castle Gear, has changed the way battles are fought and won within this MMOG.
ROSE Online will also have a fully functional economy, based off supply and demand forces. Materials for creating items will be distributed differently in various areas, creating surplus in some locations while causing a deficit in others. As materials become scarce, NPCs will increase their prices and activate quests to encourage players to hunt monsters for materials.
ROSE Online will be offered through the game's official website, www.roseonlinegame.com (http://www.roseonlinegame.com). Closed beta testing for ROSE Online began on Sept. 1 with open beta testing slated to begin Oct. 7.

If i HAD to make a pay for play mmorpg game, it couldn't be for pc because there's to many already and I don't think pc gamers want another one. I mean if it ain't WoW, it's Comic Fighter(you know the name i can't remember), then they are gearing for villian folks, if they to cheap they playing guild wars, and if they old school its Dark Age of Camelot or Everquest, 1, not 2. Nobody is playing 2.

This game has been in public beta for over a year... I think I still have the beta installed -- it was actually pretty fun (maybe I played the korean beta or something). I'm not really sure what this announcement is about, because it has been playable (in english) for a long time now.
The game was well done (if a little cutesy -- first monsters are jelly beans and catapillars) and a lot more complex than it would seem. Once you hit level 10 you are given skill choices which branch off (sort of like Diablo 2's skill trees, I suppose). Unless they changed it in a bad way since last time I played it, it is a pretty entertaining MMO.

I agree with bobbler. It's one of the best FREE beta MMORPG that I have played last year.
Oh boy, another medicore MMORPG.

damn straight.
The look reminds me a lot of Crystal Chronicles. All the toons are modeled like children with big eyes and japanese cutsey sugar.
Not sure how well americans will respond to this style.

The buck stops at WoW for me. The only thing that can tear me away from that is the gimmicky "you got catch em all"... Now being able to go all over the pokemon maps from the handhelds, Catching em all. Joining team magma, aqua, rocket, whatever. Earning and Equipping badges to show status and all kinds of crap. Finding legendary pokemon. Linking up to a new DS version of pokemon so you can find them in the mmorpg and train them on the go.

Damn Xerxes, I hate Pokemon and yet you make it sound oddly appealing as an mmo. Get into marketing, now! ;)

Hey Rakael, did i mention there over 500 hundred of those beast to get your hands on, too many moves to remember, and over 17 elemental/types...
No battle will ever be the same...

Theres a video on thier website that shows the game off. After seeing it I have no desire to download or play it. They tried to show several battles with about 16 people in them and as many mobs. The framerate in the video went down to a slideshow at parts. If they can't even make a video free of lag to showcase their game then I'm sure my computer will fair no better. Plus the overall style reminded me too much of FFXI with its endless treadmill. Maybe I'm being unfair but I really didn't see anything appealing about the game, and I was considering it before I saw the video.

Yeah I played the open beta earlier in the year for a few months, it had a lot of charm like Ragnarok online, but it was so incredibly full of bugs and glitches (skills would often be learnt in the wrong tree slot meaning you permanently wasted skill points into abilities that then did nothing cos they were in the wrong spot) and so laggy, and really nothing more than a level grind with no professions or interesting quests to offer, that I hafta say it's not something to get excited about at all. If you've never played an MMO and you like the style of it, give it a go, I got into MMOs through Ragnarok Online and have very fond memories of it, but in the face of games like WoW they are very noticably lacking.
