Well, here it is. I had a conversation with Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software and this is the result (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5367).

I'd like to compliment Gearbox for their sensitivity towards the subject with a "Job Well Done." This interview went above and beyond my expectation; I walked away with a renewed understanding and unabated anticipation for the sequel.

Randy Pitchford: There are TWO campaigns in the Skirmish game - One American game and one where you play from the perspective of German squad leaders. It's really interesting.

Liquidize105: Zee Germans too?

Randy Pitchford: The German side is really cool. The German missions are custom and unique to the German side... The two squad leaders are guys we're trying out.

Liquidize105: Now we're talking!

Randy Pitchford: It's really bad-ass. I hope people like the German stuff because I'd like to explore the German point of view more in depth later.

Liquidize105: Oh people love the Germans, I can assure you.

Randy Pitchford: We've learned all kinds of interesting stories from veterans and historical records - stories that have never been told or published. I think our interactive medium is as good a medium as any to tell these stories. The story of the 502nd and some of the things we covered in Road to Hill 30 have never been covered before in any medium.

Thought you could handle the Axis? Now be the Axis!

How do you like it? Pile it on me.

I'll be honest with you... that's one of the first interviews I've read in full for a long time. The conversational approach you took was unique and Randy sure as hell seemed to enjoy it.

Keep up the good work. :)

I rarely play first person shooters because they tend to make me motion sick but I sucked it up to play the original BiA because of the approach they took in making the game as authentic as possible. Being a huge WW2 buff I really appreciated this. These guys deserve a lot of credit for taking one of the most overused settings in video games (WW2) and making a extremely compelling game that is as faithful to how I imagine the experience really was for a soldier in WW2. You can really tell that these games are a labor of love for these guys. I was very impressed with the first BiA and will definitely pick up Earned in Blood.

Brothers in Arm: Earned in Blood Interview

"You think YOU had it rough in the service? When I was on the Road to Hill 30, I was a brother in arms. Now look at me. LOOK AT ME!"

A german soldier in Normandy you say? I can't wait to sit in a pillbox on omaha beach and blast some american soldiers. dot dot dot.

theres a reason people dont make games from the german perspective: they lost.

and they used a bolt action rifle as their general issue rifle. wtf.

(i dont really care who i am gunning down in a computer game. fun is fun and i am actually interested in a german pov- russian and american are so old).

Zee Germans too?

Was that a reference to the Guy Ritchie movie, Snatch? :)

And by the way, great interview. I like your interview style, it's shows the honest raw responses.

WWII Flight Sims have often been created from the German perspective. I think there have been tank sims from that PoV also and wasn't there German campaigns in Close Combat?

You like Snatch? That's the one thing I remember from Snatch apart from Brad Pitt's character throwing that one counter punch that knocked out the big guy.
