Atari sends word that their much-anticipated (at least by me) Alone in the Dark has now gone gold and will hit European stores on June 20th. North American gamers will have to wait till June 24th, though.
Atari, Inc., one of the world's most recognized brands and a third-party video game publisher and distributor, today announced that development is complete on the highly anticipated action survival game Alone in the Dark(R), and the game is on track to ship June 20th Europe and June 24th in North America for Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Games for Windows(R), Wii(TM) and PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. The PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system version is scheduled for autumn 2008.
Central Park is hiding a secret. Over the course of one apocalyptic night trapped in Manhattan's vast parkland, hero Edward Carnby must fight the unimaginable to survive and uncover the earth-shattering truth. New York will never be the same again.
I'm cautiously optimistic on this one. I loved Test Drive Unlimited, so Eden has already proven themselves to me. It's a shame PS3 owners have to wait till autumn 2008.

Next Gen mentioned developers for all versions except for the PS3 (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=10829&Itemid=2)...don't know if that's good, bad or indifferent. Still, a bummer for the PS3.

Looked great in recent videos, I don't think I will have the cash to buy it but I will be playing it for sure.

Very much looking forward to this game on 360 and Wii. The control scheme looks excellent and fun (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/28/alone-in-the-dark-producer-shows-wii-controls-and-gameplay/).

I am preparing to either welcome Atari back into making good games, or heckle them for ruining a once lustorus franchise.
Either way, the special effects, acting, script, and plotline will be better than the movie.

I think it would be much more clearer if they added "4" to the end. Yup, THIS is only the 4th in the series

Actually it is the 5th game in the series if you include New Nightmare.

What he said. Once there's a demo to check, I'll make my purchasing decision based on that. Till then, GTA IV is still kickin' out pure gold for me. :)

Well if you select my whole post you'll see that I do NOT include New Nightmare :) A two-barrel revolver and three-barrel shotgun, the horror, the horror!

I saw the spoilers, just figured you may have forgotten about New Nightmare is all. I mean, it is easy to forget.

I am SO excited for this game.
Ill be grabbing it at launch.
This is a sure buy for me on the PC. If it's different/interesting enough, I might even pick it up on the Wii. This marks the first time ever I've even considered buying the same game twice on two different platforms....

Hmm PC or Wii?
I'm asuming the PC will look better but will the Wii version have an interesting enough control system to justify the lose in quality.
I was disapointed by RE4 Wii not so much for the graphics but the sound was realy poor quality.
