Sega sends along a Press Release announcing that they have partnered up with Bizarre Creations for an unannounced product.

SEGA Europe Ltd. and SEGA of America, Inc. today announced a partnership to create a next-generation franchise with Bizarre Creations, the renowned UK-based developer responsible for such hugely recognizable titles as Project Gotham Racing 1&2 (Xbox), Project Gotham Racing 3 (Xbox 360™), and Formula 1 (PlayStation). The partnership adds more next-generation content to SEGA's expanding lineup of titles developed specifically for Western audiences.

Under the terms of the worldwide exclusive deal, SEGA will manage all marketing and distribution activities and work with Bizarre in the ongoing production of the Developer's latest innovative design. This agreement further underscores SEGA's emphasis on Western markets as evidenced by recent SEGA deals with external developers Silicon Knights, Petroglyph, Secret Level, Pseudo Interactive, Sports Interactive, and Monolith.

"We are actively seeking partnerships with the world's best developers to create brand new franchises and re-create new games from existing SEGA IP," said Naoya Tsurumi, CEO of SEGA America and SEGA Europe. "We could not be happier that Bizarre Creations, a world-leader in successfully combining gameplay and technology, chose SEGA as their publishing partner to create a multi-platform blockbuster for the next-generation."

"We are privileged to be working with SEGA again," said Martyn Chudley, Managing Director of Bizarre Creations. "With their passion for games and forward-thinking approach, they are the ideal partner to make the most of our new concept."

SEGA and Bizarre Creations have decided not to release product, platform, or release details at this time. Thanks, FileRush News. (http://www.filerush.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3690)

So is this sega's big announcement? If so I hope sega realizes that behind the scenes coorporate deals (like publishing Matrix Online) really don't do much to get the gaming community excited. Maybe at the GDC they'll announce their plans to acquire a strategic partnership with Allstate to increase health insurance benefits by 5% for all their employees. Whee!!

God, the Matrix thing was a complete debacle. I was sure it was going to be new hardware, then I find out they're publishing a sub-par MMORPG. Good work Sega for continuing your proud tradition of dissappointing me.

Wow ,AMAZING, FANTASTIC, and who the fuck cares. Sega has made some smart biz moves as of late. They still remain challenged by what makes good PR however.

One of us has a problem, and it's not me.

Yay...? I'm not even sure if this is news. It's certainly not a grand announcment.

I'd like to see your argument for how this isn't news, especially after that "Sega has something big" post made it to the front page. :P

This strikes me as very strange. Bizarre were very vocal in their criticism of Sega after the release of MSR. Sega made them rush it to launch with a lot of bugs and then gave the title barely any ad budget.

OK so Sega were a bit screwed, even so, there's a right and a wrong way to release games.

Metropolis Street Racer is a horrible game. I never understood why it got such high reviews. I can count 5 better racers on the Dreamcast alone.

I also heard they were finally removing the Pepsi Co vending machines from all Sega building as part of their new 3 year exclusive deal with Coca Cola.

Alright ladies, no need to get your panties all in a bunch over "bad" news. I went ahead and submitted something a bit juicier as a way of making peace with everyone. :P

Actually Bizzare is a top tier developer. Kudos to Sega, along with Pseudo Interactive they can be a return to their glory days of being a racing game powerhouse.

Of course we wont see anything come from the deal for 2-3 years, but hey.

Sega is making some big moves again. They're hiring a bunch of people in SF and they have great cash flow once again due to the new owners.

As least someone's thinking is in line with my own. Thank you for pointing that out in clear, concise words for everyone to see. :)

Don't worry, Kudos are patented by Microsoft.

The comments on that forum hurt my eyes.

Don't forget that it was a neutral third party who made the claim, not Sega. From an outsider who might be a businessman this might appear bigger.
...
And yes it is lame.
