I was playing Anime Arcade Jet Fighters 6 last night and thought, wow, it'd be awesome to have IL2 here.
Excellent news. In fact, I'm going to play it right now.

oh my good lord...
Please please please don't let this be an "arcade shooter" style game like Blazing Angels.
That looks bloomin gorgeous.

The actual game is being made by a 3rd party, but according to the man himself he was involved in consultation and gets the game to play every so often. Aparantly the flight model uses the code from IL2 so its not going to be completely arcade like blazing angels but its not a "flight sim" either.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that
A) It looks better than any WWII flight game we've seen yet
B) It's made by a mostly respected Flight Simlulator company that's only done work on PCs.

Got this from Gamespot.com looking at the news for this game i saw this in the reply's at the bottom. The guys name is "tractionpr" he's said he is the "PR guy"
"Not going to lie here, I'm the PR guy for 1C. In Europe we are huge but we really just launched in the US as a publisher last year. In Europe we have 800 stores, put out around 25 games a year from our 6 internal developers and ship one metric ton of software every hour of every day. As for IL I know I have to say good things, but it really was my favorite game we showed at the event. It has a slider to go from arcade flying to actual combat sim so it is accessible to the widest range of players and looks amazing. Someone commented on it being WWII, well that's because modern sims are really just "see a dot, get a lock, fire a missile" I prefer to get in there with guns and do some dog fighting. Don't get wroing, I love Ace 6 but I get tired of just pumnping out missiles."
So it sounds like ur gonna be able to choose how you wanna play. Don't know if he really is "PR guy or not but any info is good info.

A great PC flight sim, but I'm not sure I want to play a flight sim without a joystick ever again. Even if it's going to be a more realistic one than the old Ace Combat game I once played (2 I think - very arcadey), I just want proper input for it.

The 360 has a Joystick from Ace Combat 6.

I like the idea of the slider. The IL2 Sturmovik games have always been really nice but the controls can get a bit ridiculous without a joystick.

holy shit...this could be awesome. I'm glad to see they feature the noble Hurricane instead of the Spitfire in the video, I hope they reduce the visibility of the tracers a bit...the big white things look ridiculous! The Hurricane is a really fun plane to fly in the actual IL2...it's just so damn slow and all those tiny guns have no reach, but when you do finally get in a good firing position, those 8 .303's rip stuff up, it's awesome.
I'm sure they're going to have to tweak the engine power/performance and some of the flight physics quite a bit to appeal to "the masses". Half the time if you play instant action in IL2...the enemy will just run away or out climb you if they can. Il 2 can be a fickle whore if your a gomer with the controls...you've got to be very careful to not put yourself in a spin with some aircraft...like the MiG-3 for example**. I would be incredibly surprised if you can even "spin" in this game. I'll be happy as long as their isn't a queer ass "armor indicator" or some other retarded vitality system. You can see the battle damage on your plane...you can figure out when it's time to bail or not!
oh yeah...notice how great the ground detail looks. It's beyond reproach.

Oh come on now. Don't hold back so much. Tell us how you really feel.
Game looks nifty. If it's solid I'll probably get it for the 360.

Alright I just watched the trailer.
I want this.
NOW.
Hopefully it'll have some sort of storyline/campaign mode and Pacific battles. I want to fuck up Zero's in a Corsair.

The terrain alone in that vid is more impressive than AC6.

Ace Combat 6 is an altogether different kind of experience than what this game would have to offer. You don't even have visible battle damage (other than some smoke and a few tiny flames) in AC6, a staple that IL2 has been awesome at since day one.
I'm all about gun fighting, on many levels in AC6 it will account for the majority of my kills, it stems from me getting my start on the classics, Red Baron, Aces over the Pacific...ahhh the good old days. :)

Very cool. Though, I would expect the graphics to be a bit more detailed. The game looks identical to IL2, except for the terrain. But, the game isn't finished. Still lots of time to add the polish.
I would think a flight controller would almost be necessary for this game if you can really crank up the difficulty. But, as Wasson_ said, its doubtful it'll be that difficult. IL2 is the most difficult game I've ever played but also the most satisfying. It will be quite a feat to make this game hard enough while still giving console players what they want (pick up and play, then be satisfied, kinda thing).
Also, no dynamic campaign? Probably one of the best things about IL2 are the long campaigns.

Is this game being done on the same engine as IL2 and 1946? I wouldn't think that the updated engine for Storm of War would be available yet, particularly shrunk down to console requirements.

I thought it looks great, I haven't played a flight game since something like Flight Sim '97. Makes me want to pick up Ace Combat 6 actually.
