TGS 2005: Gears of War Presentation

Xboxyde.com (www.xboxyde.com) has a presentation from TGS 2005 on the upcoming game Gears of War for the XBOX 360.
Before the big HD video, get a tiny glimpse of what is Gears of War by now with this video: 10 minutes of gameplay (basically the E3 levels), at Microsoft's pre-TGS conference. It's beautiful, smooth and action-packed, looks very promising. But you'll have to watch it in a very little window. I'm guessing the real game won't be saturated with cutscenes like this. Since this is the e3 presentation, they probably built it around wanting to show off the engine in the most polished presentation possible, and with cutscenes they can show EXACTLY what they want you to see, and put the focus where they want it.

OR... maybe it will be EXACTLY like that, until they run out time/money for cutscenes, then it'll go back to being a "game".

OR... they could not run out of money and do it up MGS-style! :p

If they make a presentation reel out of a totally scripted sequence, that's one thing. But that wasn't what this was. What they're showing, is a 'play game - wait - play game - wait' experience. I have no reason to guess the game won't be exactly like that.

I like what I see of the gameplay, I don't like how little of it I saw.

I'm still not impressed by this game. To me it looks too clunky in movement,aiming etc.

Graphics are obviously great but i'll wait till i get it in my hands.

Epic just seems like they will never, ever get their voice acting right. Every game of theirs is filled with the same cheesy, overly masculine voice, spouting more cliched action movie lines. Valve all but hands PC FPS developers the formula for success, at least read it.

I didn't necessarily catch the same thing you did. The whole demo seemed too broken up by what the dude was saying to get a real feel for the flow of the game. That's just what I got out of it.

Every time I see something for this game I think to myself:
Why is this 3rd person?
Why is the character taking up large portions of the screen?
Wow, that's some awkward aiming.
Man, that voice acting is pretty thin.

I may be jaded to games by now, but at least try to not underwhelm the audience.

what was that? a slightly better looking game then what we used to have untill now?

Come on! do they expect me to to buy the same game over and over again just with better graphics?

I want some new flesh, bones and skin... not upgraded vertion of what I used to have!
And to think I was looking forward to this game.

Looks cool to me. I'm looking forward to it. Looks like it's a shooter..... just like they made it out to look. Shocking! Whatever, if you were expecting the 2nd coming I guess you like disappointment.
