Microsoft Corp. said on Thursday its next-generation Xbox 360 video game console would go on sale in North America on Nov. 22, just before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday kicks off the year-end shopping season, followed by European and Japan debuts over the next three weeks.

Asked about the reason for launching only premium packages in Japan, Maruyama said Japanese gamers tended to have broadband connections, and more content requiring a hard drive would likely be available in the country than other regions.

Microsoft are keeping the launch line-up under wraps until the X05 event in Amsterdam on October 4th and 5th.

Part of me is tempted to get a 360, mainly for Oblivion. However between 400 dollars for the console and 50!!! dollars each for wireless controllers, it's just way too overpriced for me.

:cool: I gotta get that day off and probably the following, hell maybe the rest of the week. A friend at work and myself will probably make the 95 mile trip to the nearest Gamestop and get one. I pre-ordered it, an extra controller and PDZ and Kameo. Can you believe that you can pre-order a contorller????? Craziness the hype is building and building and building!
