Is anyone playing Vanguard?

I haven't played it since beta and I wouldn't mind giving it another shot, but there's no free trial option. It seems the only way to get a trial for it is to get a buddy code for a 10 day trial period.

I've never played, and am definitely interested in trying. I'll try any mmo once.

I actually have just went back after quiting after launch....and....its waaaay better now, runs better and its just beautiful if you have the rig to run it. I really hope people give it a try and maybe resurect it a bit. I'm havinga blast.

I played it since launch day... its a lot of fun 1-50 but once you start raiding for a few months it gets pretty boring.

I think Vanguard is one of the MMO's I'd really like to try and kinda sad there has been no free trial yet. So anyone that might have a key floating around and is willing to toss it to me, please feel free.

Good news is that a trial island is comming out soon where you can try it....if you go on their forums people give trial account keys all the time...

I played it for a few weeks about 4 or 5 months ago, and for a couple months after launch. Are there any recent developments that you would like to share that might get me back there?

What's the point? Age of Conan, folks.

More in depth PvE instead of PvP I'd guess. I only played it for about 5 - 6 hours over the course of my trial, but it was relatively enjoyable. Certainly looks nice.

In-depth? How so? I played to 24 or so and found it to be the standard mob-grind, fedex, etc. AoC is not much different, aside from the dialog trees.

Like I said, I played a very limited time in the trial, so I don't have a ton of first hand experience, I'm more going off what I've read about the game.

Sorry, I'm not trying to criticize. I really loved Vanguard up til about 20, even though it was buggy as hell. I'm actually curious how it is now, even though you'd need an Abrams to pull me off AoC.

I've heard they made massive improvements from when it launched, working out most of the bugs and making it playable on computers that most people actually own.

I'd love to try AoC but I just can't bring myself to play another MMO without there being a trial first.

GrinR - If you want to give it a go, PM me and i'll fire you one of my guest passes.

Melba - The main reason i haven't yet installed Vanguard and given it a go, and GTA 4 and MGS 4 are both sitting on my shelf unfinished, AND several really cool looking blu-ray and DVD purchases are sitting on the pile unopened, is Age of Conan.

I've played pretty much every "big name" MMO that's come down the pike (starting with Ultima Online way back in the day) And i can honestly say that i've never had more fun with one than i'm having with AoC. And it's been mainly a solo experience up to this point (just hit level 32). There's just something about the feel of the game, the design, and the combat is glorious. It doesn't hurt that i'm a Conan nutjob - having soaked up most of the Howard material and some of the pastiche authors in my years on this planet.

I highly doubt anyone else geeked out as much as i did when i found Sancha running a brothel in Torgage, the same Sancha that Conan had rescued from the same Black Ones you fight on White Sands Isle in an old Howard story called "The Pool of the Black Ones"... Yeah, i thought not...

I suck. ;)

I've been playing AoC the past couple of weeks, and I'm unfortunately finding myself bored with it.

It doesn't help that with each patch, it appears to be getting even buggier. I thought that this was going to be a WoW killer for me, but now it's just a time killer until WotLK ships.

So I decided to fire this up again tonight, but before I could get my payment in I noticed I have some free time on my account. So I looks like i'll be playing this until july 31st for free. I'll be on the Seradon server playing if any of you are late night players.

When I got my e-mail saying that I had a month to play Vanguard, I thought the same thing. However, there's really nothing to do at 80 in Conan except run the same few instances or attempt the broken raid content.

So, I've been playing the free 30 trial I received for Vanguard. While it's definitely not new or exciting, it's definitely enjoyable (insofar as leveling and collecting loot and being awesome goes).

Couple the lack of level 80 content in AOC with a few weeks of absolutely terrible updates, and I cancelled my subscription. As much as I wanted to like the game, it just wasn't there.

I'm playing Vanguard with a few friends, and hopefully in a month or more, I'll see how AOC is going. Right now I just can't really justify the subscription.

As far as Vanguard, the game has definitely come a long way since beta. It feels like what I imagine a proper sequel to EQ1 would be. Not sure if I'll end up subscribing, but it's at least fun to play for the time being.

Finally canceled Vanguard after I've been stuck in AoC.

I got burnt out on raiding APW for months on end over and over and over. Think I hit 50 back in December or November in Vanguard and after that the only thing to do really was raid. It was okay for a while, but meh all raiding gets boring after a while.

I really did enjoy leveling 1-50, it reminded me a lot of EQ1 but with more quests and easier to get around now.

I've heard rumors of possibly raising the lvl cap and giving advanced exp lvls like in EQ as well, but its probably 4-6 months out. Until then I will probably stick to AoC.

Hit 78 on AoC the other night, have gone on a raid or two already, they arent too bad, much more forgiving than any other game I've played. If you all wipe you can usually all run back within 2 minutes and just start over from where you left off. No respawn or anything.

I think the raiding game in AoC will never become as complex or as demanding as in other mmorpg's, mainly due to the limited heal mechanics of the Priest archetype. Not that thats a bad thing. The quicker a raid is done, the better.
