Straight from Fileshack (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/53000)!

New on FileShack this morning is the PC demo for Devil May Cry 4 (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/12271/Devil+May+Cry+4+Demo). A 805mb download, the demo offers about ten minutes of gameplay and a boss battle.

If you're not sure your machine can run the game, there is this benchmark tool (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/12272/Devil+May+Cry+4+Benchmark+Tool).

The PC version features two new modes, turbo and Dark Knight... the latter of which populates the levels with a huge number of enemies to mow down.

Post some impressions (and benchmark results), folks!

Seeing as Capcom has always gone for shitty ports, I'm real curious if this will be different.

Also dark Knight mode looked AWESOME.

Will have to check this out, especially if the RAM for my new PC finally arrives today.

To be fair, you did leave a blank link in your submission, otherwise it would have been approved ;)

I was in such a rush to submit it first!

Why download the 400 meg benchmark when the demo is 800... bizzare.

The benchmark tool is a little bit bigger than I thought.. Can I possibly get it in CD form somewhere? To, you know.. Benchmark?

I'm running an Athlon 64 X2 4600+, 2 gigs of ram and an 8800GT and the game ran flawlessly at everything "super high" detail at 1280x1024 with 8x high quality AA.

It dipped down to about 70fps once or twice, (85hrz monitor) everything else was sitting about 100fps

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful, put the 360 version to complete shame. If all capcom PC ports from now on run this beautifully, i'll be a happy camper. (Resident Evil 5? please?)

oh yeah; i used a 360 controller which was already the default config.

yeah, and thats once again one EPIC FAIL for a DMC PC Port: No fuckin mouse support, except for MB0+1 - yay.

Can't remap the lame keyboard controls.

Seriously fuck such ports. I'd rather play with less graphical thingies and with a perfect control scheme for the PC (hello Capcom, take a look at Asassin's Creed - they even did both) as this.

E8400, 4GB of ram and a 9600GT
I'm running everything maxed, 8xaa @ 1920x1200 and its still super smooth, I have V-Sync on so it stays at 60fps unless there are a bunch of enemies on screen then it fluctuates between 48 and 58fps. I couldn't however run it in DX10 mode do to massive discoloration, I'll have to get a picture but it looked like everything was running through some kind of Photoshop filter.

The control is flawless with the 360pad, I don't see why anyone would want to use KB/M for this kind of game.

Are you serious, Ac had a simple counter one button battle scheme. Try air juggling, style switching, devil triggering with a mouse and keyboard. You'll break your fucking paw.

You have got to be fucking kidding me. What is the logic to use mouse support for a game like this?

Excellent! With conversions as smooth as this, I'd love to see RE5 on the PC alongside Street Fighter 4.

(I'm loving the native 360-controller support, too.)

Running on: (about 3 years old)
Athlon 3500+ 2.21 Ghz
nVidia 7800GT
WinXP DirectX9

The game runs fine, looks great.

Wierd Bug, when i first entered the PC Settings screen and tried to go back to the menu i got about a 10 minute load time (progress bar and everything) for no reason at all... after it was done it just went to the start screen and I haven't notice a load-time since.

Default control scheme took some getting used to and like the poster above I think I would of preferred to at least have the option to use the mouse. I tried with a controller at first when I couldn't figure out the default controls, and didn't want to go into a settings menu (see above) but the dead zone on my controller is pretty broken and couldn't get above walking pace.

Nice to see capcom at least has the engine under control and running well. General PC stuff is still pretty lax though, the menus all make mention of xbox360 buttons to navigate them and the default controller information shows 360 controls with the keyboard bindings in brackets.

fuckin kidding? dude K, I, J? inacceptable controls and I dont support it.

Mouse would be perfect. I slayed million of enemys with my forfinger on the mouse. It's the way to go, were not in 1980. If you don't see the logic in this, you probably never played any PC game.

Works as well in TP, FP, Iso as for fixed cameras.

I have been playing PC games since I was seven fucking years old and I still think games like this play far superior with a traditional console controller than they do with a KB/M setup.

Exactly. A console controller. In front of a console attached to a TV.

I realy dont see the need in porting such games (nothing against the games itself... though I'd prefer NG or GoW everytime over DMC) over to the PC - but IF they do, then they should do it with proper support for the primary input devices.

It's not that this wouldn't be possible and it even could be done very well as an alternative and mature controlling scheme, even if a controller might still works better. But forcing you to use a 360 controller? Not with me.

Having the 360 controller option there is nice, but what about if I wanted to buy this? I have no 360 controller. Limiting options like this just makes no sense. to me. Too bad, the game looked promising, with great graphics and performance.

Or a 360 controller in front of my PC attached to a monitor.

I have a PC that has superior hardware than a 360 or a PS3. If possible, i would like to get my games on PC due to the fact that the visuals are stronger, i can video capture easier, and i don't have to look for disks, etc.

I got a 360 controller for my PC quite a while back when I realized that I really liked the controller. I have a multitude of other PC input devices, but for some games - Such as racing, or 3rd person action titles, controllers are superior. Seriously, with a game that requires so much "locking on" as this game does, i don't see how a mouse would benefit anything. Especially with the pre-arranged camera angles and such.

I guess I can see how DMC4 would use mouse controls; but i don't think it seems like the type of game that would benefit from them as much as RE4 did. Now that was a horrible port job.

DMC4 doesn't require a 360 controller, it just happens to support it without any configuration, as the game was already made with a 360 controller in mind. I'm sure you could use one of those claw thingies or any other controller with a USB connection perfectly fine, you just need to remap the controls a bit, like it is for every single PC game you wanted to use a controller for before the 360 pad became standard controller setup.

Fuck the 360 controller. I'll use GlovePIE and map my wiimote/nunchuck to play the demo :)
