Wal-Mart Offering $100 Gift Card with Purchase of PS3

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune (http://www.startribune.com) Walmart is going to offer a $100 gift card with the purchase of any Blu-Ray player, including the PS3.

The deal starts Sunday and runs through June 14, according to reports, although the deal on the PlayStation 3 is active online now. All players reportedly qualify for the deal starting Sunday, including the $298 Magnavox model.

Usually, when this type of promotion is done, the clerk scans and credits a giftcard with your purchase of the promotional item, then zero sums the giftcard amount. That giftcard is then given to you, so you cannot use it at the time of purchase, nor can you immediately return the PS3 and then repurchase it using said giftcard.

If you're going to come back a few days later and return the PS3 to repurchase it using the giftcard, be sure you do not open the PS3 box or in any way break the seal. If you do, they will likely only be authorized to exchange the console rather than refund the money.

Yeah, when I managed a Target, I had to tell enough torqued off customers that they could not return their opened or used PS2/Xbox/Gamecube/PSP/DS for the cash they bought it for that I started having electronics cashiers make it very clear when they sold the items beforehand.

No, this doesn't work. There was a whole thread on cheapass gamer about this. If you return the ps3 you get charged for the gift card. Also you should be able to use this on either the 40G or the MGS bundle coming next week. Also it seems that best buy will price match this offer if there is a walmart in your area that has the ps3 model you want in stock. (If you'd rather have $100 BB card instead of walmart)

This actually got me to buy a PS3. When I bought it, they gave me the gift card right there. I then went back to the games, picked up GTA IV and bought it with the gift card 30 seconds later. Still have $30+ on the card.

You can call it a $299 PS3 or free $100 in stuff or whatever. I knew I'd be buying GTA and Oblivion, so now I get one free and a deep discount on the other. Good deal for me imo.

My Dad went and bought this yesterday at Walmart (in store) and recieved the gift card. The version of the PS3 they are selling does not come with Spiderman 3 (oh boo), and I was surprised to learn that it didn't come with any wires to hook it up in HD. WTF Sony!

You can use it for anything. It's a Wal Mart gift card that says Blu Ray on it, but you can use it for whatever you want.

This is a cool deal. You don't have to figure out a way to scam something out of it. You get $100 in free stuff.

I bought a PS3 today and got my gift card. I'm going to buy some Xbox360 games with it.

My wife has a netflix account we told netflix that we had a blu-ray player and it automatically changed everything to Blu-Ray.. Pretty cool... Now if X360 gets netflix I will be in movie heaven.

This is my 3rd PS3 so I'm hoping this is the one I keep now that there are alot of blu-ray movies to watch.

I might pick up MGS4 now but i'm not sure.

The problem with these deals is that you still have to pay tax on the system which is around $40 bucks (in CA) so you really are only getting $60 bucks on the card.

I wish Amazon had this deal that way you could save on the tax, shipping, and get the $100 gift card.
