And people call me a carebear for rolling on PvE.
An asshole blocking a bridge is something I don't have to deal with because of it.

The exact thing that puts me off PvP servers in any game. People will kill you because they have fun knowing that they are ruining the game for somebody else.
This guy gains nothing for doing that, yet I bet he sat there for a good couple of hours doing it just to be a douche.
I do wonder why nobody just attacked him though.

Their names are white, that means they're way under lvled and he'd just murder them.
Looks like he was camping Conall's Valley, 20-30 area. Gotta be at least 40 to ride something.

Gota be at least 55+ to have enough money to even buy a horse.
This guy is an idiot, funny video tho. :)

I admit it's funny. It's the kind of thing where if one of my friends had done it to me, or vice-versa while we were just messing about, we would have found it really funny.
But the knowledge that this guy probably sat there for hours just griefing people is pretty sad.
Also, I was hoping that AoC wouldn't go down the WoW route and make people shell out a small fortune for mounts.
I was lucky on WoW, in that my brother already had two level 70s by the time I hit 40, so I never had to grind gold. But I did have to save for my epic flyer by myself and it was a huge pain in the ass.

It's a grind if you want a horse the moment you hit 40 for the first time. I've 57, already have a horse, and decided to spend some of the 3g I have already accumulated. Quests and playing the auction house are good ways to get coin quick.

I don't get peoples mentality in this post. What he does amounts to nothing.
You die, why do you care? Perhaps you have to run a bit extra but that is all. Considering the amount of running around you have to do for the quests, that extra minute of running is nothing. Perhaps he even does them a favour because of stupid design that makes death the fastest way to travel.
If someone would do this to me, I would probably laugh because its funny!
Next time I would just sneak past or stun him or something.
Calling this griefing is just plain silly.

Except you cant attack him or sneak past him because hes more than twice your level.
Imagine that you wanted to get to a quest that beyond that bridge, and he keeps killing you without you being able to do anything about it.
Anyways, you get what you pay for, roll on a pvp server and subject yourself to one of the most immature and grief oriented communities i have seen in a pvp, far beyond WoW's world pvp griefs. Or do the smart thing, and roll pve :)

His presence on that bridge is only a problem if you were going uphill. Downhill you jump into the river behind him, no problems. Uphill you die and rez at the far spawn point, as there is just a bunch of wolves between where that guy is and the main city. So I don't see that he is griefing too much.

He have to use the search ability to find stealthed players even if he is twice their level.
The first place is the path down to Conalls village, there is a respawn point just below. Next is Cascet falls(sp) there is a respawn just were the unfortunate players come from, and if you look at the minimap there is a path so you can just run around the bridge.
Or you can just change instance. However, there is a bug now that puts you in combat when you are hit even if you have a res-shield which makes it impossible to do so. So there is possiblilites for real greifing. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
I rolled pve first because I was suspect to free for all and thought it would be a ganking mess. I got bored pretty quick on pve because everything went on as on rails. I missed the uncertainty, the unexpected and excitement of when things don't go as you planned. The gratifying feeling I got i WoW when I emerge victorious from a fight agains uneven odds.
I re-rolled on pvp and are quite happy. Now I fight, gank, die and get ganked and usually have a great time. It just a matter of how you view things. If you get ganked you think about what really matters, how you would try stop it happening again or just plot your revenge. Don't get butthurt as the "immature pvpers" puts it.
I have 3 self made rules in pvp in AoC.
Don't attack Grey players unless they attack me or are about to kill a quest mob I need. Don't gate camp as it is boring. Don't hit players who are talking to npcs.
Anymore rules and I am only puting myself in unnecessary handicap as I can't expect anyone else to follow my rules.
The best thing about AoCs pvp is that unlike WoW you cen hit, effect and even win against players who are higher level (in a bigger range atleast). Except perhaps the priests as they are almost immortal 1 on 1 as it is now . :)

Last time I got ganked on a PvP server on WoW I camped the asshole with my 60 something hunter for 2 hours solid. He just /cried over and over at the end.
Some of us want to actually play rather then spend 2 hours venting our rage at 12 year olds.

Exactly, just play instead of getting angry. :P
(they are actually more like 20+)

Thats just it, you would expect some maturity from a playerbase that has to be at least 18.
But no, when i read the game forums, or even the ooc chat, i haven't seem such stupidity, immaturity and nonsense for a long time in a mmorpg. Not even the much maligned barrens chat at the time was as bad as some of the stuff im seeing.
It goes to show that having an an 18+ sticker on the box doesn't magically make the game have a better community, LotRO is a prime example of that, better community in a mmorpg i couldn't hope for.

I loved Barrens chat, it was nonsense but silly nonsense that made the god awful treks back and forth amusing.
Oddly I've found the worse the grammar, the older the person, thus Age of Conan's problem on the forums and PvP.
All my time on Wiccana though, only met one douche, he ninjaed a gathering node off me. Another reason PvE rules over PvP, all the assholes go to PvP to be assholes, leaving us alone to enjoy ourselves.

Mostly true, I admit. Most friendly and mature players are on PvE.
However there have also been times were you have cleaned out a camp and one guy comes running in tagging the boss you were working your way to. This angers me more than being ganked because there is nothing I can do about it then sit and wait for the respawn. On PvP I can atleast kill the dude . :)
Concerning the chat, I just turn it off, try to find a group of people or guild that I like talking to. Usually I start MMOs with a group of friends so that helps.

On PvP he'd of waited until you were fighting the boss, then kill, then kill the boss himself :p
I've been there, god I've been there.

FFXI still has the best community, by far. That's a large part of the reason I came back there.
WoW was considerably better on RP servers, at least. Also, Alliance was better than the Horde, who tend to be more obsessive.

Of course FFXI had a better community, the game has a horrible UI, forces grouping for hours at a time... basicalyl a game where it's impossible to get by an asshole. :p
Wiccana has been a pretty good server, if there are other people around an area needing to kill stuff, I tend to do a fast group to share kills, then break it off.

Well there are alot of asshats in Pvp; but I enjoy playing on a Pvp server anyway. It adds a sense of randomness/surprise to a static world and there is currently no real penalty for dying other than a waste of time. I was sort of surprised that I am enjoying Pvp; I have gotten ganked many times, but no griefing yet (knock on wood). BTW, I am horrible at Pvp. [AoC - Cimmeria server]

So so true... but I love it anyway.
I'm having fun on a PvP server in Conan. Initially it was a bit crazy as people were going gank crazy. However, once things calmed down a bit and people started focusing on leveling, it honestly hasn't been too bad.

I'm currently playing a PvE server on WoW and the community is pretty good. Certainly better than any other MMO I've played since Ultima Online.
Even Barrens chat is funny more often than it is annoying.
Even better, all the asshats are in one guild called Umbrage and they consider themselves too elite to talk to us common people who don't have full sets of tier 5 PvP gear or whatever.
Everybody wins.
