From the latest issues of OXM:

- Halo 2 will upscale to 720P
- F.E.A.R is up and running on Dev kits
- Bio-Shock is in Development for the system (sequel to System Shock 2)
- A version of City of Heroes is well into development

There's also some screens of Perfect Dark Zero as well has hands on impressions of the first 3 levels.

Bioshock sequel to System Shock 2? Bwahaha... [btw: it's "spritual" successor]

OXM needs to learn more substances than spewing fluff most of the time.

Do you mean spiritual? If you're going to correct someone, at least spell the word correctly. Or am I missing an in-joke?

I bought this magazine yesterday and it's pretty decent. Not worth $9.99, though. There are a few details in it that I didn't know about as well, which makes it more than just a compilation of already-disclosed X360 facts.

This is what I thought. I didn't think it was directly related to System Shock 2.

Either way, I am looking forward to this one. Hopefully, it will be made for PC as well. I prefer FPS games on the PC.

The magazine the scans are from is not part of the OXM subscription - it's a seperate entity altogether, unfortunately. I already subscribe to OXM (for the demos, not the editorial content).

Well I think BS is coming to the PC too, but I don't think is controls will make much of a difference (sp) unlike F.E.A.R or something. If you think the SS games were FPSs you've missed the point of why those games were fantastic enirely.

EDIT: I think he means its fom one of those official console magazine issue 0s? The ones that are out before the machine previewing all about it. Like there was with the original Xbox.

It does not continue the story or world of SSII, so his sucessor dubbing would be valid. As for PD0, does anyone else think they were a bit inspired by the art design of HL2?

Edit: COH is the perfect MMO for consoles.

I'm in the same boat. I want one on launch day but not sure where to pre-order. I'm worried doing it online might screw me over with a shipping delay or availability issues so I'd like to find a local store. Has Bestbuy, circuity city or target announced they're taking pre orders yet?

Fit, did they sell you some sort of "package", or did you just buy the Core/Standard system? I happen to like some of the packages online, but in each one there is probably at least one game I wouldn't really buy.

I might just put a down payment at an EB Games too, at least then I won't have to worry about a shipment not coming in.

I'll believe it when I see it. The same shit gets said about every popular MMO, and it's always a lie with the POSSIBLE exception of Everquest Online Adventures, which really isn't a version of Everquest but actually a spin-off.

I preordered mine a little after E3. I'm third in line so I'll be getting one day 1. If you haven't preordered forget about Gamestop and EB...it isn't going to happen unless you buy one of their ridiculous bundles. Your best bet now is to head over to Blockbuster/GameRush because they are taking pre-orders or check out Gamecrazy.
It will suck if they do push launch to the friday after Thanksgiving...who wants to deal with those lines??

You will be lucky to find a brick and mortar store EB or other that has not pre-sold out of the first shipment of the hard drive units. There may be some of the non hard drive units available. The good news is if you do find one they do not require a "bundle" purchase in store.

Nope, you are wrong. In store there is no bundle requirement.

I pre-ordered mine around E3 time - no package. As rein mentioned, you do not need to buy a bundle if you pre-order in the brick and mortar store. Howeves, as has already been mentioned, most of these stores are sold out of their initial allocations.

I'm weird. I like the rush of trying to find one on launch day so I never preorder. It's a bit of a hassle, but I find it fun. Then when I get one, I feel a strange sense of accomplishment. I've done this for the past several systems. Heck, I ended up having 2 PS2's on launch day (sold one to a friend).

Honestly, I used to love that stuff too. It really was an adventure and I never ended up empty handed. I also used to spend time going through pawn shops, flea markets and mom and pop type stores just to score a deal. Hell, it didn't really matter if I found a deal that day or not, it was just fun to drive all over creation looking for it. Then there were those days where you struck gold. It was not my best deals but probably the most fun. One day I walked into a pawn shop and he had about a dozen unopened SNES games (back when they were new) for $10.00 each if I bought them all. I picked them up and spent the next few days hitting walmart stores and exchanging the unopened Nigel Mansels for games I wanted.

I just talked to my local Gamestop manager - he sez that there will be a cutoff date coming soon that will delineate when Microsoft can guarantee the number of X360s per store. Every time a store gets a preorder, that info goes to that company's HQ, and the companies have been giving daily updates to Microsoft. Microsoft has been watching those numbers, and when the numbers start approaching Microsoft's manufacturing limit, they will announce a cutoff date. My Gamestop manager says that if you preorder now, barring a manufacturing problem, the stores will have no trouble filling that order on launch day.

He could, of course, be full of it.

I put down a preorder for a non-bundled X360 HDD version, plus 2 games - CoD2 and PDZero. Although after those shots from over the weekend, I might go in and put another deposit down for Ghost Recon. </drool>

Well, Gamestop/EB must be full of it one way or another. They have already told several customers that they can forget about a day one launch system.
So this is pretty freakin' contradictory to what I've heard...firsthand.

Source: A variety of sites, most notably Computer and Video Games (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php%28que%29id=121676).
The official story: Microsoft had not commented as of press time.
What we heard: Gamers were forced to think about their holiday shopping five months ahead of time this week when word began to spread that the Xbox 360 was no longer available for preorder at either of America's two top game retailers. C&VG cited unsourced "reports" as saying that "Stocks of Xbox 360 consoles are already critically low because of rampant preordering." Guess what? They're right...sort of. "We ran out of our first allotment, which is set by corporate [headquarters], earlier this week," said the manager of one San Francisco GameStop. "We just got the second one in, but we're almost at our limit again. We'll try and get a third allotment, but there's no guarantee those will arrive by Christmas." The story was much the same at GameStop's soon-to-be-subsidiary (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/04/18/news_6122418.html). "We ran out earlier in the week, but we just got another 25 [at this location]," said an EB Games manager, "but they are going fast." However, since neither EBgames.com (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/ads/shops/xbox360/) nor Gamestop.com (http://www.gamestop.com/search.asp?sortby=default&searchtype=quicksearch&searchcount=12&keyword=&platform=32&find.x=8&find.y=8) yet offers 360 preorders online, gamers will have to show up in person and plunk down a $50 deposit to ensure they'll have happy holiday seasons. As for reserving it somewhere else, good luck. As of press time, Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0009KF9FM/qid=1120853593/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-8618480-2475960?v=glance&s=videogames), Circuit City (http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Search.do?c=1&context=&keyword=xbox+360&searchSection=All), and Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?navLevel=4&type=category&navHistory=cat00000%2Bcat02000%2Bcat02119&id=pcmcat62500050034) are not taking preorders at this time. So either the shortage is real or the retailers are giving the hard sell. Do you want to take the chance?

How do you figure?? Stupid Cabbage Snatch Kids had a shortage when they were at the beginning of their popularity and they did just fine. MS will have tons of the consoles on the shelf. EB/Gamestop may have sold through their allotment, but consider the fact that MS needs to make sure their other retailers have the supplies they request. It is pretty important that the Wal-Marts, Targets, Best Buys (c_cks_ckers), Circuit Citys, etc have the 360 presence in them. I'm sure MS won't be 'f_cked' this holiday season. Better to have them sell out, then have them sitting on shelves with no buyers. If they sellout, it will add more to the hype and make the system that much more desirable.

I preordered mine back at the beginning of June at a local Gamestop. They told me they were already out of their first shipment back then so I'd imagine by now you'd be lucky to get one before Christmas. I'm guessing that places like Wal-mart that are open 24-7 will be the best place to get one on launch day at this point since you can go there early early in the morning and beat the crowd.

Your post is just fucking retarded, at best. Microsoft plans to sell 1.6 million units before the end of the year. I havn't heard anything about them having problems manufacturing these numbers, and I'm guessing they are manufacturing more then thier target planed sell number of 1.6 million. (1 million in the US alone)

If Microsoft is having a hard time keeping up with 1.6+ million orders then I say they are going to have a great season.

So unless you can prove that Microsoft can't or is having problems manufacturing 1.6 million units by the end of this year, STFU.

sorry, the STFU went to far. I applogize for going that far. But come on people - Learn how to use google! 30 seconds on google and a quick skim of a few hits will remove half of these pointless posts. Not only will you not look like an ass, we might have more meaning full discussions.

Yes it sucks that Mircosoft might be overwhelmed with trying to manufacture and ship 1.6+ million units in under 1 month. Despite all the nay sayers, core haters and harddrive entitlist, Microsoft just might be making a system worth buying from day 1.

You have to look at things, xbox was luke warm wet spot in a sea of PS2, how many people here honestly expected that Microsoft could sell 1.6+ million 360's in 1 month (even it if was before christmas). Then add all the bad news of the dual SKU and optional harddrive. I know I didn't. But if they are and able, Next Gen is comming and people want it NOW.

Zeal

You must have poor reading compehension skills or something. If they're unable to produce the required amount of units, they won't be able to meet their sales quota, regardless of demand. This has happened to Sony plenty of times, and Microsoft certaintly isn't immune.

My reply was also in response to the article, not you.

If Microsoft is having a hard time keeping up with 1.6+ million orders then I say they are going to have a great season.
Too bad supply and demand are two seperate things, which was the entire point of my post. I recommend highschool economics.
