I've never heard of the Summon Night series before, strange. Anyways, I'm always up for a new DS RPG. Plus it was translated and brought over by Atlus so I have high hopes for a decent game...

This is going to be an expensive week, Ninja Gaiden 2, GRID and my first Blu Ray Cloverfield...I can't wait.

Started out on the PS1, and became more famous for it's spin-off series on the GBA (known as Summon Night: Swordcraft Story). I'm looking forward to it, myself.

When does the summer drought begin? o.o

lego indiana , NG2, bourne, Rescue me season 4, last season of dead zone.

I might pick up the dirty harry blu rays. I might also consider the hulk game later down the line i enjoyed the last one

Lego Indy, the ORIGINAL adventures. Who wishes there's some of them crystal skulls in there?

Let's see if the next Hulk game is a step above the previous or if it suffers from Spider-man syndrome where the sequels get worse as soon as it got faithful.

I'm very tempted by the Indy game actually. I didn't realise that it was out so soon.

I'm also very tempted by Grid. I played the Demo a few times on the 360, and quite frankly I thought it fucking rocked. One of the most exciting racing games I've played in a long long time.

I'm really not interested in NG2. Sorry. I'm just not :D

Lots of games I want to try but not many I want to buy.

I'd like to play the Bourne game (I really liked the demo) but I have a feeling it will be a rather short yet extremely fun rollercoaster ride, like the God of War games, that I'll be able to finish in less than a week and then I'll be wishing I had my $60 back.

Lego Indy looks fun but, much like the other Lego games, I just don't feel right paying full price for this game. I'll snag it when the price drops.

If the new Hulk game is on par with Ultimate Destruction, I'd love to play it. I'm not 100% sure though and, again, I'll rent it.

Ninja Gaiden 2 looks like it'll be fun but I'm not quite ready for an ultra punishing game yet. GRiD looks too much like Gran Turismo with the DiRT engine, which could be awesome, but I need more rally racing, gorramit!

And I wouldn't mind seeing either of the movies that are out this week. I'll wait on Zohan until it hits the DVDs but I think I'll probably take my kid to see Kung Fu Panda on the weekend.

Ninja Gaiden 2 for this guy. PUMPED.

I didn't really like the first one, but after playing 2 for about five hours or so, I'd say it's pretty damn good, with enough controller-throwing moments to keep me coming back for more.

Hey, let's not forget that the Red PSP w/ God of War is also out on Tuesday.

As for stuff I might buy, the only one I'd consider is NG2, but I think I might wait a bit for it. Money is a little tight this week and I'll definitely need MGS4 next week, so I'll probably wait to see how things play out.

Sorry, wrong thread/tab. Red, please delete.
:(

Your failure will be posted here for all eternity, so that all may see and make a mockery of it. This, I command.

Skipping NGII unless I win a copy of it in the Giveaway. Ordered the Gunmetal PS3 MGS4 bundle from Konami so the gaming budget went down the toilet. However, I am going to grab Bourne as the game actually looks like it could be really good.... the more videos I watch the more I go "holy shit I wanna play that." I see there was a demo released.... going to grab that when I get home and make my decision from there. GRID I am on the fence on, but I do tend to like Codemasters' games after playing them for a while so I think I'll get that too..... now PS3 or 360 on that one.... not sure.

Pretty strong weekly release considering it's the summer time frame.

Hulk and Grid for me and I'll put Bourne Conspiracy and Ninja Gaiden II on my Goozex list (unless all of the reviews indicate that the easy on NGII really is easy, in which case I'll buy that too - I like, but sucked at the last release).

That was my theory but I'm finding it harder to stick by my guns as the price for BRs drop. It does give you a chance to reassess your collection. There are some movies I just don't need again or ones I never watched more than once. I would never say there were some that don't need to be HighDef, because all movies NEED to be HiDef. Anyway the guy at work I'm giving all my replaced DVDs to isn't complaining.

I am considering grabbing Fatal Inertia EX also. I missed that one on the 360 because while the demo was OK it was not a $60 title to me. Now that it's a PSN game AND the developers realized the mistakes they made on the 360 one (super-tough difficulty and controls, not enough basic courses to let players get a handle on them... they even admitted that they were so used to playing the game while developing it that they failed to realize how hard it could be to initially grasp), I think it might be worth a download. Going to wait until the new PS3 arrives though.... no sense in downloading it twice. Gonna check out the JP demo tonight to see if it really does play better.

Cloverfield is shaky handycam film, HD might be a bad idea. :)I went out looking at BR discs today to see if there were any worthy of my collection and the $32+ cost on pretty much every disc I saw means I won't be buying any for my collection any time soon.

If Cloverfield on Blu-Ray has lots of extras, I'll snag it. I wasn't terribly impressed with the extras on the standard DVD of it.

If you're looking for sub-$30 BR discs, aside from multi-disc sets, almost every BR is below the $30 mark (not counting shipping of course if you don't have Amazon Prime.)

Fry's Electronic stores are usually pretty good at pricing their discs below $30.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Warriors. But the film source wasn't exactly good to begin with (the movie cost $5 to make, after all) and I don't know what good it would do to put it in Hi Def unless you really cleaned up the print.

Hecubus

Bah. Amazon.ca has most of them for $29.99... Big woop.

Not to be contentious, because, hey, I'm just trying to help out, but that's actually incorrect, particularly since Amazon doesn't seem to sell their blu-rays (didn't check regular DVDs) at $XX.99. Rather, they're all at $XX.95, with many single discs starting at $27.95 and cheaper--most seeming to be marked at $19.95.

But maybe you're just seeing the "list price" only (the harder to see, scored-out price as compared to the bolded, bright red actual price.) Maybe you need to be signed in to see them perhaps?

Spigot
06-02-2008, 02:41 PM
No, I'm seeing the CANADIAN prices. I am fully aware that you fine folks are getting good deals (and you're right, it's XX.95) but aside from some really old movies that I could care less about, most of the ones are going for $29.95... If they were $19.95 up here, I'd actually jump at them.

All I really want right now are Cloverfield (depending on the bonus features), Appleseed: Ex Machina and Cars, with maybe a Ratatouille thrown in for good measure.

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for now. $30 for movies that I already own is just too steep a price for me to justify and not be moved out onto the lawn. It was a squeeker getting to keep my stuff in the house after bringing the PS3 home. If I start bringing home new versions of movies I own, well, you won't see me around here much :P

It does, the controls feel a lot tighter.

It really does. Almost TOO tight. No sense of "OMG THIS THING'S OUTA CONTROL!" anymore. Feels very sterile.... however, it was fun once I got out of that extra boring Proving Grounds stuff.

If the price is right I'll snag it.... but the JP store has it for like $38.... way too much for what it is....but gives us an idea of what Wipeout HD will cost.

Bourne I am definitely going to get after playing the demo. It's not GoTY material by any means, but it's really a lot of fun and the combat's really great to watch in action.

GRID.... still pondering.... tomorrow I'll decide when I'm at the game shop.

Not a game, but the Metal Gear Bluetooth Headset(http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?Product%5FID=71233) is out wednesday. Just got a email from EB saying the release date changed to this week. Pretty sweet since I don't have a headset for my ps3 yet.

I really want that even though I already have a great Bluetooth earpiece in the form of my Jawbone.... I own just about every piece of Metal Gear Solid merchandise there is, so it's really tempting, but...... budget is already overstretched. I'm just hoping it doesn't sell well and the price comes down.

Speaking of MGS, the novel that came out last week as not very good from what I've read so far.... if you played the first game then this it basically feels like you're reading someone's written account of watching someone play the game, including the codec conversations nearly verbatim. Hopefully it'll pick up and we'll learn more about Snake through it or something but......

I really want to play Bourne, but it strikes me as the kind of short but awesome game that doesn't really warrant a $60 price tag. It's definately going to be played around Casa Del Spigo though.

Then you're in luck. I don't know a store selling it for more than $50. Then again I only read Fry's ads.

It's the kind of game I'd concider buying at $40 or less but I just can't bring myself to dropping $60 on it.
