Does not playing videogames cause violence? According to Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com), a Chinese woman murdered her fiance (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/09/09/news_6132946.html) because he was spending too much time playing videogames.
Though the culpable title wasn't identified, the motive was. On August 6, the woman in question apparently got fed up with her unemployed significant other for spending more time online than looking for a job so he could pay for their wedding.
I feel like I've dated this girl.
I should probably re-direct my wife's attention away from this article.

She could have just break up the engagement. Its better than murdering which could lead up to death row (in China of course!).
Another day, another cop-out. Take some responsibility and stop pointing the finger at games.

The MMO didn't cause murder. Some woman's A.W.S. (Attention Whore Syndrome) killed the man. Let this be a lesson to you all! Be careful about dating women who are too needy and always need to be involved or validated.

Umm, sounds to me like the guy was just a Lazy bastard, and the video games really had nothing to do with it. Kind of like the way I sleep instead of going to class. I don't go to class because I don't want to, extra sleep is just a happy extra.

If you kill someone because they won't pay for your wedding, laziness doesn't enter into it. Sorry, but she should of just left the guy, nothing was stopping her from doing so. Why was she with the guy to begin with? What were his redeeming qualities?

I wonder how the decision making process went... "I'm engaged to marry this guy but all I do is play videogame, I wonder what I should do. I could leave him, or maybe I should kill him. Yeah, kill him, that sounds like it would solve the problem."
I think this story works in our favor. This woman is an example of someone who hated video games and is a danger to society. Suck on that, Jack Thompson!

I love games, love em and I play a lot. WoW, tons of Xbox, DoW, BF2 Diablo II Stracraft.... just to name a few.
But let my wife give me a come hither look, or even stop in the computer room wearing one of those low cut blouses...and gaming is the last thing on my mind.
Yes she is very attractive, most men give her more than a passing glance, but I have friends whose' girlfriends, and wives are Fucking Porn Star hot...and these idiots ignore them and continue to play their games...... It boggles the mind.
When given the choice of playing with a woman and playing games, I hope to be shot if the game ever wins out.

I terminated my second dating relationship because my girlfriend couldn't understand why I played games... Actually, it was when I caught her taking my NES and SNES (and all the games) to Goodwill. Not that I played them to much, I wasn't puting her off at all for the games, it was she didn't see why I was intrested in them at all. Well its good to know it could have ended a lot worse than it did. :)

Good move. If she is going to be that disrespectful to your property, good riddance. She doesn't need to understand your hobby...she just needs to understand that it is your hobby. She needed to keep her fecking hands off of your stuff. How would she have liked it if you went into her closet and donated her shoes to goodwill, or all of her makeup.

Actually they aren't as a Minority as they once were, and a lot of the stories that are told about how the government controls the birthing population is basically western propaganda.
Also keep in mind that the Chinese are a very family oriented society, If he was her Fiancé he was family and over there people just don't say: "Hey it's been real but we have outgrown each other." Most Chinese women are also very, very possessive of their mates, make no mistake this was a crime of passion she felt like her fiancé loved games more than her, and if she can prove that in court she will probably walk. Of course the government won’t allow her to marry anyone else, but she may not serve a day in prison.

But seriously, this strikes me as a bit fishy. This certainly helps the government justify it's "3 hour MMO limit" they recently imposed; maybe this woman was advised to blame her crime on a MMO to perhaps look more favorable to the court. Or maybe she's just batshit crazy.
