Tecmo must have a thing for girls in swimsuits. Okay, I do too. Their new game for the Nintendo DS is chock full of ladies in swimwear (http://kamalot.blogspot.com/2005/09/nintengirls.html). I'm not sure what the game is about, aside from girls having their bathing suits pulled off by fishing hooks, but the artwork is nice.

I wonder how it will use the touch screen.

You dirty cad!
In other news, calling the game "Nintengirls" is the least clever thing I have ever heard in my life.

Well, this game -- Rio de Carnival -- is just a bunch of casino stuff (card games, slots), spot the mistakes comparing two drawings, and lots of cute anime beach babes as you might've noticed.
(btw, it has nothing to do with Rio or Carnival, the main girl's name just happens to be Rio, just like that old old Duran Duran song song.)
Japan is creepy as fuck.
Oh come now, don't pretend like you wouldn't buy it if it came over here. Creepy like a fox.

They`ve already released one compilation so far, some Fist of the North Star Pachinko collection. God, it looked bad. Although I bet at least one hormone soaked idiot is going to import this thinking it`s some kind of sexy virtual pet.

I'll second that motion. The nation as a whole needs to just get laid and get that goddamn pent up sexual frustration out of its system so they can stop masturbating over artificial girls.

Yeah, that Hot Coffee thing really got out of hand.
Wait, we're talking about Japan?
Hot coffee wasn't a stand alone game.
Though it may be soon in Japan.

'I've got a stylus for ya!'
'Rubbing and blowing take a turn for the worse...'
Bad jokes of the day for ya!

Hot Coffee: Japan? Where CJ is a small naked 13 year old schoolboy who inseminates the cheerleader squad while under the control of his scientist father's mind control device on the top of a mountain. All the while screechy japanese singers throw out western styled pop songs with the song title and artist written at the bottom of the screen so you can identify the audible mess when the soundtrack album inevitably comes out. A squad of pink 14 year old female ninjas are sent to bring and end to the boy's domination of ass. Not by sword or kung fu, but by having sex with him until he is too weak to carry on. The credits roll to a fantastic Yoko Kanno score.
Needs more tentacle.
Tentacle is people.

I'm probably being an ass by saying this, but why is an uninformed newspost linking to an uninformed blogpost considered newsworthy? Especially when the author of the newsitem is the author of the blog?
You could've at least put the same info you posted in your blog into the newspost, like a link to the game's homepage for example, or a link to GameSpy (http://media.gba.gamespy.com/media/760/760388/imgs_1.html), who have actual screenshots of the game and bits of info.
You are being an ass.
It's entertainment worty. It's humour-worthy. It's hahalol-worthy.
I hate all these "news worthy" nazis. Why does it pain you screwballs so much that you need to mention it? This is not CNN.

rororoor. You obviously missed what I was trying to say, so I'll try to explain. I'm perfectly fine about the fact that he posted information about a rather interesting game (First rather arousing game for the DS? And by Tecmo, no less? Hmm-hmm!). Intriguing, funny, even "news worthy", if you must.
What I'm not happy about is that he uses it for blatant self-promotion. Why link to your own blog entry about the game when said entry contains no additional info except for a link to the game's homepage? Why not put that link directly into this newspost?
We all want traffic to our webpages, but this is a rather low way of obtaining it, IMO. People should read your blog because you have interesting things to say, not because you can put multiple links to it in a rather uninformative newspost.
But no one else seems to care or be bothered by it, so I'll stop whining.

I'm pretty sure Japan's culture is a lot more sex friendly than America's. That's why they feel a lot more free to express the fact that digital girls get them off, or tentacles for that matter.
That said, my puritanical biases are never gonna let me get the whole digital girl turnon thing.

The Japanese are the way they are for a couple reasons.
1) The pressure of conforming requires some outlets.
2) They had no christian wacko's telling them sex was evil.
3) It was and is still a male dominated society.
4) The sex trade is a legal and accepted part of their society.
What I find odd is all you male's who probably don't get laid that much yourselves objecting to the Japanese practice of "adding a little sex" to their products. I see nothing wrong with the practice myself, panty shots, animated boobs, sexy female characters and all. It won't make a poor game good but, it adds some spice to a game I already like.
What makes a male object to this practice? I'm thinking it's heavy indoctrination from the religeous types who think fun is evil. The Hot Coffee mod wouldn't have caused any kind of stir in either Japan or Europe. Only here, where "sex = evil" was it an issue.

My main gripe with added sexual undertones is that, due to my heritage, I have a hard time seeing it as normal. Instead of "adding spice" it becomes disturbing, as it draws too much attention to itself and also feels out of place. It's especially troublesome when watching an anime with so-called 'ecchi' undertones, where there are a lot of females in extremely tight suits bouncing around their overly large breasts and it's all made to be kind of... normal. Yet, here I am, with all sorts of religious, feminist and what-not ideas drilled into my head since birth by the western cultural sphere and obviously unable to accept any of that as normal. Painful.
This, of course, is a personal problem, but it's rather prevalent amongst "outsiders". It also makes watching recent seinen-oriented animes a rather hopeless endeavour.

How does my own level of sexual activity relate to how i find sleezy, tabloid newspaper-level T&A in games?
This isnt a case of "oh no, there's a boobie in shot, call Jack Thompson" its simply that here is a game whose sole 'hook' is the pantie shots and jumping pre-pubescents. With calls to start growing up, move the game industry from a little boys club, where the idea of 'booth babes' and 'sex sells' are being re-though, im sorry if my opinion that the japanese preocupation with nigh-on paedophilia in their manga/anime/games is just a little on the worrying side is so blatantly linked to how regularly i get laid, i just call it as i see it.

The Pedophile card is always played then this kind of discussion starts going. Why is that? I'm talking about bouncing boobs and panties and you bring up abusing kids. Seems kind of odd to me.
This comment "sleezy, tabloid newspaper-level T&A" says it all in my mind. You're proving my point that the reason this is even an issue is because many have been indoctrinated into the "Sex = Sleezy" camp. Since I'm US born and bred I have problems with the "jumping pre-pubescents" too. I just don't watch that kind of a anime. My arguement is that there's nothing wrong with a little sex appeal in video games and that I'm constantly surprised at the negative reaction it gets even among normal heterosexual gamers here in the US.
If I'm playing "DOA:Beach Volleyball", "Soul Caliber" or "Dead or Alive". I certainly enjoy watching the female characters.
I was actually referring to the comments about the Japanese needing to "go out and get laid" when in fact it's likely far easier for them to do so than it is here in the states.

lol you people seriously need to lighten up, over here you have pop singers who dance like strippers and pretty much writhe and contort their bodies in ways that pretty much emulate sex with another person or masturbate in front of thousands of people and call that entertainment, which it is, but as soon as a nipple appears all of a sudden all hell breaks loose.
talk about a fucking society that's totally full of its self.

For those actually interested in the game, and discussing it... I explored the main site and found a link to a sample mini-game,

"That really cannot be all there is to a game, can it?" - a phrase I utter at every Nintendo DS game. Find the differences between these two pictures and touch them? Highlights indeed.

I said about japan collectively getting laid, partially as a sly crack about bukkake and partially because what i've read and discovered about the way japanese entertainment folk expresses their sexual frustration. The way it comes across to me is a nation of 15 year old boys who get erections over every girl that walks past showing a little skin, a nationwide Benny Hill sketch. Ive no doubt that here in the west sex is equally, in some people's eyes, seen as 'bad' or something to be hushed up and kept in the privacy of one's home.
While i personally find the double standards of western media appauling: The much labeled Wardrobe Malfunction being too obscene yet any hip hop video is perfectly acceptable is just one example in a long line of them. The content that Japan seems to continuously produce (i'm aware its just that which has been reported to me) is far more than just a game with a few characters showing flesh, its showing flesh with a few sections of game, and its not the first and surely wont be the last.
Dont get me wrong though, I'm not up in arms or calling for a boycot, i'm not even going to be so high and mighty and label it filth or whatever, i'm just going to mock the people who made it and mock those who buy it. No one will be purchasing it for its interactive merits, its a tits and ass game for a select group of perculiar people.
(And for the record, i said nigh-on peadophilia. i didnt say child abuse, i'm implying that these characters are often portrayed as grossly underage yet fully formed and nine times out of ten flashing panties. I brought it up and its often brought up because thats what i've seen. I didnt just throw the term around for shock value or to make Japanese exports seem that one level sicker, its what i know is being put out. Maybe there's a better word for it though but it still doesnt sit right)

Yeah, well in my mind pedophilia = child abuse and pedophiles are incurable predators that nothing but, a bullet can cure. I don't ever pull that word out lightly. I'm not sure what anime you watch or games you play that would expose you to something like that. As much anime and asian porn as I watch, I'm not seeing it.
My guess is this Tecmo game has no nudity (Tecmo never permits it) and probably plays something like DOA:BV where you have different outfits for the chicks. I'd never buy into it because, it's got a be a good game first and secondly have sex appeal.
As for being a nation of 15 years olds, well, I don't have a problem with that. Most anime is targeted at high schoolers so, what do you expect? I have yet to see and adult centered anime (not adult oriented, starring adults) that wasn't depressing in some way. Makes me think life after high school must just sucks for them.

So instead we get reams of sub-par kids stuff with giggly pseudo-smut, peddled as entertainment. There are intelligent stories and ideas in Japan, Shirow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masamune_Shirow) is a prime example, and saturating the media with juvinile crap only serves to reinforce the already massive stereotype about who the Japanese are and what their interests lie in.
Makes me think life after high school must just sucks for them.
Life sucks wherever you go. It's amusing that a lot of the disaffected youth of the west hold an affinity for Japan, seeing it as their spiritual home without any reason or fact to back it up. Sure i dont know the intricate details of youth society in Japan, but being a teenager sucks wherever you are in the world.
As for my use of the word Peadophilia; its interesting how manicly hostile you become when it is thrown around. Sure its a terrible crime but we're just talking here and kneejerk "kill 'em all" attitudes arent really needed. There are literally hundreds of easily obtainable examples of Anime's preocupation with Lolicon, some more blatant than others which i believe this game and others like it, are teetering close to being. Maybe not this game in particular but it certainly isnt distancing itself from it. Works like this only re-inforce the stereotype, which is what i have a problem with.
