Pirates Lag Question

I tried to play a little Pirates of the Burning Sea today and it was lag, lag and more lag. I already have my system settings as low as they can go so I know that it isn't the graphics settings.

Does anyone play this on the West Coast? What server do you use? I don't see any way in the game to tell what is a good server.

I just realized we are having some bad winds here in Phoenix, so there is a chance that this lag really is my 'net connection. I'm going to come back and check again in a couple of days once we get past our windy/rainy week.
