Bethesda Softworks and Splash Damage have signed a deal (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/bethesda-splash-damage-deal-new-title-on-the-way-from-chaps-behind-enemy-territory--quake-wars) to work together on future efforts. Bethesda is, of course, the company working on Fallout 3, and Splash Damage is the UK based company behind Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.
“Bethesda Softworks has repeatedly been responsible for outstanding games as both publisher and developer.” said Paul Wedgwood, Owner and Creative Director of Splash Damage. “Both of our studios share a passion for creating great games, and we’re confident that this partnership will result in even greater experiences for gamers. We’re really looking forward to working with Bethesda.”
“This could not be a more perfect fit,” said Vlatko Andonov, President of Bethesda Softworks. “We are extremely impressed with Splash Damage and the quality titles they produce. They are highly creative and innovative, and have demonstrated a high level of dedication to their projects. We are confident that gamers everywhere will be thrilled with the offerings from this collaboration.”
Multiplayer Fallout anyone? We can dream.

Yea, didn't see this coming. How is it going to work? I don't understand how Splash is "in the same boat" as Bethesda.
Anyway, they are cool guys.

All I know is that I enjoy both companies' work.
I wonder what games will come from this partnership and how much combining they will actually do. Or would it be Bethesda does the single player and Splash Damage does the multiplayer?

Seems like an opportunity of geography and the fact that game quality requirements are getting bigger all the time.
Splash has proven large level creation pipeline, Beth needs lots of expansive multipath areas, fast.
Hopefully the company cultures merge well. Hardcore FPSers working with sandbox RPGers.

Splash Damage is the type of company that studios devoted to single player titles contract to do the multi-player portion of their games. While I'm guessing it's way too late to tack on MP to Fallout 3 I'm willing to bet Big B's next game is going to have it.

Bethesda has published other developers titles before (I think they published that last Star Trek game) so this may not necessarily mean Splash Damage will be helping Bethesda with multiplayer on one of their own future releases. It is interesting to think about the possibilities. Not a pairing I ever would have imagined, but they are both quality developers so here's hoping to good things.

Good thing they didn't end up with the unimaginative tards at Id Software.

I'd imagine this has something to do with Rogue Warrior, a navy seal shooter being developed by Zombie Studios (http://www.zombie.com/index.html) and published by Bethesda.

1. Revive the old Bethesda license for Terminator games
2. Give to Splash Damage

3. Profit
With Three confirmed new sequels of the Terminator movie franchise now announced, all starring Batman Begin's Christian Bale, this might actually be a highly strategic move on their part.
