I'll update this post once we get some clarity over where we're going to play based on playstyle. Right now there are 5 categories - PvE, RPPvE, PvP, CulturePvP, and RPPvP. The RP PvE is unofficial, since they haven't designated that apparently.

As part of celebrating the release of Age of Conan we are happy to unravel a brand new PvP ruleset that has not previously been disclosed: The Culture PvP ruleset! Note that this new PvP server type is experimental and players on these servers must expect an ongoing change to the ruleset.

The goal of this PvP server-type is to stimulate war behind the three cultures of Cimmeria, Aquilonia and Stygia. As a player on a Culture PvP server, you are shielded from lone travelers of your own culture, however you may still group with any culture and form a group and attack anyone.

The Culture PvP ruleset is an evolving ruleset that will be tweaked and polished based on player-feedback in the months to come. Although it is, at least currently, possible to make guilds across cultures, pure culture groups and guilds will be endorsed on this server, and as such players on the Culture PvP servers must prepare that the future will hold continued changes to the ruleset.

We have changed to ruleset on two servers that were previously flagged as full PvP. The homes for the Culture PvP servers are:

I always find RP servers too restrictive in their rulesets, why I find the unofficial status of Wiccana so appealing.

Any vote for PvE is a vote for Wiccana anyway (unless you've already rolled elsewhere, like Dagoth, but that's another debate).

The Cultural PvP is apparently a mess as well, like if you group with another culture, then someone from your culture attacks them, you can't heal them and other crazy shit.

A suggestion: Do not create a Evil Avatar guild...

I have been in about 6 or 7 Evil Avatar guilds over the years in different MMORPG games, and they never amount to much in terms of guilds. While it has ALWAYS been a great bunch of people to play with, the retention rate and the number of people that can be gathered together to accomplish end game goals has always failed to deliver the goods.

I suggest that if you want to play with other Evil Avatar players, you choose a comon server but then research and apply together to an established and well ran guild on that server. This way you all play together and have the membership numbers and dedication of players to get to the end game content.

Really is a demographic split here. One side likes the "attitude" the other is sick of dealing with crap all day so we come here to beat people with our walking sticks.

While the numbers are low, due to the fact that it's a low pop PvP server, it's doing rather well and we are even doing runs now in Kara. Not bad for a small guild really.

The game just came out really so establishing a guild I would think would not be that big of a deal, and really myself it would be more enjoyable to establish something with EvAv folks that grew and invited others in. But depending how things go with this group will decide how long I play the game overall.

I think you'll find each of the offical EvAv server types starting guilds. It looks to me like there's easily enough people.

Just purchased last night, and was still patching when my face hit the keyboard at about midnight. I'll be rolling Cimmeria sometime today. While I totally understand Savok's and others concerns about a full PVP server, I was just on the official forums today, looking at the Cimmeria forum "how do you feel about our server" thread, and it was a solid 4 pages of folks who love it. I didn't see one negative post.

Pretty impressive, given the (almost certainly true) tales of spawn camping that are going on.

Anyway, if EvAv gets a guild together on a PVE server, I'd certainly roll an alt on there. Wiccanna sounds like a lot of fun, actually. Might be a good place to cool off when I am being chain-ganked on Cimmeria. :)

I'll post some character names when I get them reserved.

It's curious to me that so many people pick PvE and NOT RP-PvE. Is there really that much of a difference for you PvE people? Generally, the RP servers are more filled with mature folks who are allergic to leet-speak... and an unofficial RP server is even better because it's more internally policed, rather than administered.

This is true, and I wonder how the dynamic of not having two opposing factions will affect the PvP servers. In a game like WoW, Horde kill Alliance, and Alliance kill Horde, often on sight. If there are no factions, does it drop the amount of PvP killings, in that there is no discernible enemy, or does it turn into a total gankfest, as many kill everyone they see?

I guess it depends which servers as well.. im sure paranoia is rather high on servers like Deathwhisper with all the "hardcore" guilds on it. But generally most people do their own thing and keep their distance from one another.. and occasionally people will join up in groups to kill quest NPC, instead of waiting for it to respawn. You will get ambushed, no doubt about it.. but trying to survive those encounters can be fun. Another fustrating aspect for "good" players are the difficulty of helping people out without grouping with them. For example, a Priest of Mitra cannot heal anyone in need without grouping with them first.

Bane (Cultural PvP) approaches the concept of racial conflict.. but the ruleset was added in at the last minute and is currently flawed. I doubt the server will get much attention till most common bugs have been sorted out.

In the spirit of the Virtue server on CoH/CoV, unofficial RP servers tend to make some of the best. My hope is that they do not add RP PVE servers or, if they do, convert Wiccana to one as it has such a comfortable base of players.

Assuming every thing that needs to be fixed, I would highly recommend it. The minimap sucks, the UI sucks. Everything, I'm loving. The core elements of the game are very fun, though.

I just made the Evil Avatar guild on Dagoth. Right now it's government is Nemedian (I liked the role names), but that can always be changed later at the groups vote. Anyone who wants to join is free to as long as you are an EvAv member, or a friend there of. Ok, so is Dagoth in the lead right now? I tried starting a character on Blue Steel pvp server and got to 18, but the pvp in this game is pretty broken at this point with all the ganking going on. I rolled a new toon on wicca last night but only got to level 8 so no big loss if I switch again.

The game features lots of cool details like the ship at the top of Tortauge, the heads on pikes around town, and the later areas after Tortage are pretty good looking. So what are you doing with your account? I am thinking passing it onto an EvAver.

I'm having the same problem, i canceled my account and removed my visa as a payment method, but if i try to reactivate, it has my card details stored and i can chose it without adding anything else.

So, I think I am going to stick with my ranger on the PVP Tyrnany Server.

I even have the perfect name for it.

Robinurhood in the PeenOrange clan. I amnaged to 1 shot a lv 28... idk what. Well he was a dick, as he got me earlier when I was talking to an NPC, him and a lv 40 assassin. After killing him I immeditaly was dropped by the assassin for a second time, but I felt good about killing the other guy at least.

Well, Dakana is the Guild leader. He hasn't been on in a while though. Mythix, Atory, Matroskah, Grundir can all invite however.

No idea. He logged in recently and I got the message 'Your guild city plot has been reserved" now we can select the guild city option and build there (assuming you have Architects plans and the resources.)

I am a huge fan of the game, and the only reason I haven't been on the last couple of days is because Hellgate had a new patch, so the girlfriend has been playing that nonstop. Even with that in mind, I still try to get on once a night to chech and see what is going on. Plus, I already run the Dagoth EvAv guild!

Well we had a chat amongst ourselves, we decided on Grundir for now (he's also our architect) and he'll pass it to Mythix if he really wants the job.

Yeah Grundir would probably be the best candidate for now. It really doesnt matter who's leader, we'd just like to get at least a lvl 40 and someone who's on regularly. Theres really nothing to manage. Mostly we just need to clean out the guild bank.

I am no longer Guild Master at this specific moment. Ended up crashing and now it appears half the guild is... Guild Master. While I'm stuck as a lowly officer. Sat for 2 hours in petition, but no response. Will have to find a work around.
