[CoH] Checking in with Issue 12

Issue 12 (which went live today) has piqued my interest and it's been awhile since I've visited Paragon City, so I think it's time to check things out.

I know we have some EvAvers on the Virtue server, so I'm going to be rolling a noob there. Is there a EvAv SG in place? Also feel free to post your character names, and if you're a hero or villain.

Huge base, and Thursday night is SG night. We get together and do missions for a few hours, and the people in charge write their own stories to go along with what we're doing so that we can have our own on-going story arcs. It is a heavy RP guild though, so it isn't for everyone.

That's a shame, really. Playing it has reminded me how much fun it is, and they've really added in a lot of content recently.

Back when a lot of us on EvAv Radio played, we had our own TeamSpeak server we could use instead of the in-game text based chat. Really helped things out a lot.

It was the only MMO I had fun in. Tried WoW, but it never grabbed me.

I wish they would roll back the nerfs. CoH was at it's best when characters had stupid high resistance, massive damage and tanks did every mob in the instance at once.

I remember the runs where the tank would round up a shit ton of baddies, bring them back to an empty dumpster, jump in and let them follow.

Then we'd all unleash with our power AoE's and soak up the XP.

This is my main, or has been every time my subscription's been enabled and since the game's launch. Looks somewhat different now, but not hugely so (considerably bluer in this pic though, due to nighttime). Lovebubble Bot's the name. I think during (my trial in April) I got him all the way up to level 17 or 18 from level 12. Nothing like bubbles to help one's troubles!

I've been tempted to resubscribe for this month, but by this point I wouldn't even have a month of days left to play before I leave for foreign lands. Plus I've been buying too many adventure games of late :p

I am currently on Guardian, but none of the friends I used to play with still play. I believe you can do a character transfer and am interested to find out more details about who's over there and how the Virtue community is.

Well you need a level 50 villain to get the Villain Epics. as to everyone asking where to go? Virtue! Come join us all on Virtue.

I play a number of Heroes and Villains, mostly redside though, and have been working on a Fortuanta. Mentally ripping into enemies is just.. fun!

Yeah, it seriously takes me almost no time to get to lvl 8 these days. I just make my new character, go to AP, and join a sewer team. There ya go, lvl 8 in an hour and a half, tops. I think a lot of people who play MMO's are dead-set on soloing though, and that isn't a great way to play CoH.

She is a Force Fields/Psionics Defender, lvl 31. I'm really considering remaking her as a Psi/Mind Blaster though... Grass is always greener on the other side -.<

I haven't played in awhile, but so far it's great for me, aside from the "ClearSpam" chat thing already mentioned. I'm also seeing some people's chat messages prefixed with "<bgcolor=#" for some reason, don't know what that's about.

Bugs I, and others, have seen on the Euro servers:
Zoning into empty zones. No NPC's, no other players, no functioning doors/portals. Chat remains. Can use Pocket D V.I.P. membership to get out but then when zoning out of Pocket D you may well end up in another empty zone.

Free tailor session tokens do not work. If you don't have the Inf for the changes then no changes are applied. If you do have the Inf then you are charged instead of using up a free tailor session.

Pets (Most noticably Mastermind) simply cease to react and follow. Often giving the "Where are you?" response when told to follow.

Big lag spikes and random disconnects (Not seen this myself, but many on Union are reporting it).

i have charchters on both victory and virtue cant remeber which ones are on which though

Could be a Euro problem, but I've heard of the empty zone thing, its called out of synch. Try having someone Teleport friend you. The costume piece Password has on though is a new one called "Perplex" That, "Thorns" "Arctic" and one other have all been added.

I'm mostly on Champion and Pinnacle, so I won't be able to do much with you guys on Virtue.

I created a Global Channel so we can all chat even when we are on different servers. (They upped the total number of global channels you can join. It's now a max of 10, up from 5.)

The channel is "Evil Avatars" for all our avatars on CoX. Hope you can all check it out. It's public for now, so just join up.

I got my Ill/Rad controller up to 48 back in the day. It was one of the strangest MMO characters I've ever played, but pretty effective. Much like with my shadow priest, though, I got tired of explaining that fact to skeptical groups.

Did they improve the endgame? I seem to recall a lot of grinding and a weak first attempt at PvP.

Yeesh, there are tons of Ill/Rads out there. It and Ill/Kin seem to be the most common controllers in PVP.

Nice to hear they've gained in popularity, I had a load of fun with mine. Fire controllers were the favored build at the time, as I recall. I only played the very earliest PvP, and everyone seemed to have crazy frost/slow builds that wouldn't let you move or take actions. I'm sure everything has been rebalanced a few times since then.

Really having a lot of fun with both the Heroes and Villains this time around. Looking forward to getting my Corrupter up to 50 and seeing some of the higher-end content.

Also, the Evil Avatar Supergroup base was recently upgraded with a teleporter to Cap au Diable! Very exciting. Hoping to get more teleporters, and Enhancement and Inspiration collectors added soon too.
