WoW expansion to be shown @ BlizzCon: (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=4782636&p=1&tmp=1#post4782636)
BlizzCon is quickly approaching, and we're preparing the lineup of programs, dev chats, and the concert to be held at our inaugural event. I’m very happy to announce that we'll have the first public showing of the expansion for World of Warcraft at BlizzCon. Attendees will be able to view the work that is going into the project and hear some of the eagerly awaited details. To those of you who won’t be able to make it to the show, please keep an eye out for the game magazines that will be hitting newsstands right around BlizzCon, because some of them will feature in-depth articles on the expansion with plenty of information about how World of Warcraft will be evolving.
For this Battle Plan, we want to take the opportunity to look ahead to what our players can expect in the coming months leading up to BlizzCon and the expansion announcement.

I wrote a synopsis on Volume 2 of the Battle Plan, which can be found here (http://www.filerush.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3569) if anyone is interested.

Awesome news. I'm excited to see them talk about hero classes and discuss the expansion. Soon as that baby's around, I'll be heading back home to WoW.

What the hell? They took the post down, haha.
Edit: Looks like they may be moving it around or something. They added a spooky-looking picture to the U.S. homepage (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/) with a link to the same forum post (which isn't working atm).

A-Team - Volume 2 of the Battle Plan? Does that have anything to do with the expansion? That seems fine for a normal update, but not nearly enough for an expansion.
I was expecting hero classes and new battlegrounds that maybe make it less of a zerg-fest.

If this information doesn't leak from one of the magazines well in advance of the formal announcement, it'll be a first.

Btw, I've heard that in the expansion, you have to join 800 man raids and go on a 10-hour raid 5000 times to have a 1% chance of getting an epic set.
Sounds like fun. . . :)
Actually, I'm just waiting for the endgame to be a little bit more accessible and fun for the casual player (me), and I'll be installing what is the most popular and probably the best MMO ever.

Bahah, it looks like the General Forums couldn't take the load.
Bean, the synopsis of the now borked link mentions Hero Classes, and details will be given at Blizzcon.

No. The Battle Plan focuses on changes being made to the original game, all of which we will be seeing through the official patches.
If you read through the post (when it comes back up) and my outline, you'll see that they are very concerned with:
1) Low-level players moving up through the Honor system
2) Players not beefing up certain skills because the skill trees are too "weak"
3) Aging storylines for the various regions of the game (which is where Silithus fits in)
4) World Events as a whole (the number of them that occur and who all can participate in them)
and most importantly: 5) A "pay-per-move" service for players who want to move their characters to other servers and/or other accounts (which was previously unconfirmed but has been floating around on the boards for weeks)

There had best be some new races... and the pay-to-move thing would be grand for me, because one of the reasons I'm not playing is because my friends here at my University play on a different server than me.

The character move service would be great... but I'm not gonna bite if Blizzard are going to be charging premium prices for them, like Sony are.

The prices there are absolutely fucking mad. I'd be happy to move a character for, say... $10? $20? Sounds fair, considering they only press a few buttons on their computers for it to happen. Any more and I ain't even considering it.
Blizzard's business methods regarding WoW are slowly starting to scare me, let's hope they don't turn it into a money-milking machine like Sony rapes their EverQuest fanbase.

Holy shit those prices are high. But then again I'd assume WOW prices will probably be lower considering leveling up is generally done quicker than EQ.

It would be awesome if Blizzard announced a new Diablo ][ expansion, or Diablo ]I[ at BlizzCon...

Also it would be cool if there was an option to simply play your char on another server... So you could play with old friends or new regardless of where they are...

I want only three things:
1. Pandarans as a playable race
2. Brewmaster as a class
3. Brewing as a proffession
Holy shit, yes to Brewing as a profession!
You'd make out like a bandit - right now the "state monopoly" on alcoholic drinks makes the good ones as expensive as a sword or a piece of armour!

You know.... I am so fucking sick of seeing "well there had better be <Insert Asinine demand here> in the expansion. " Better be or what? You cancel your account? Do it now and stop your bitching. Blizzard will put in what it deems appropriate. Yes I know some think that they are the center of Blizzards universe..but guess what ? They’re wrong.
/now that I have got that little rant out of the way....
Balamoor is going to whip out the old crystal Ball which most of you know is about 80% correct.
This is what we will get with the WoW expansion pack.
Two new Races High Elves and Goblins, this will include lands and content for each.
Hero Classes ( One of the High Elf hero classes will be Blood Elf)
New types of mounts including a couple that can fly
A lot of new tweaks and features for Guilds including Mount Tabards that match Guild Tabards. (Actually we might see this before the expansion)
A New Battleground that is quest based.
And the biggest thing...advancement of the story line. You will see quest after the death of Charcters like Van Cleef.
Keep in mind this is the first expansion, we will not be seeing anything as earth shattering as Panderans (Which from what Fangtooth said at E-3 will probably never happen anyway) Naga or the Big Bug people, or player Housing and Guild Keeps. Those things will come in later expansions.

Very cool posting. I'm gonna start putting my quotes in blue...

But Balamoor, nobody in this thread SAID that!
Personally, I'd love to see a WoW Expansion announcement post that doesn't segue into "Wouldn't it be great if they announced something in XFranchise" followed immediately by "what makes Guild Wars great is that..." post.
But it's an imperfect universe.

True ....but can't I rant at least once a week?

Actually Parigon, I was speaking more to the paint chip eaters on the WoW forums. I know, I know I'm crazy for even visiting them...but I still hold out hope that they will someday actually get some moderators with spines.
Oh, and can I have your stuff?? :P

I agree on this, I want padarians, goblins, and maybe nagas. they could always make a really goofy robot race. nuetral races, like high elfs, stuff like that.

YES totally, Just what I was thinking. and For people who want deeper story line game play, maybe on RP servers only you can get special quest that let you betray a faction and switch sides.
