View Full Version : The Weekly Release

Another week, another Weekly Release. It's a big week at the box office, with a new Indiana Jones movie hitting after some 15+ years. Early reviews have been mixed, but hey - how bad could it be right?

On the gaming front there's a few interesting titles. The PS3 exclusive Haze from Free Radical hits with it's 4 player co-op and drug induced storyline. Of course, if you like excercise - and who doesn't - then Wii Fit may be right up your alley...if it even classifies as exercise.

On Blu-Ray this week there's Short Circuit. That's right...Johnny Mother f'n Five. In hi-def. Steve Guttenberg - the man that defines high definition. Yeah, I'll have that.

Postal is actually coming out in theatres?

According to some reports I've seen recently, it's coming to theaters, but only FOUR of them. In the whole country. I hope that's a sign that people aren't willing to give Uwe Boll the time of day anymore.

It's worth noting that Conan is already in US stores and the servers open to US players on Tuesday at Noon EST.

You foreigners have funky dates though so good luck.

A few buddies who pre-ordered the Age of Conan Collector's Edition from EB got a special code to log in on the servers ahead of time.

I ordered my CE from Best Buy online. I suspect I'll get it next Tuesday knowing how slow Canada Post is.

Hmmm, still don't know about dropping 90 down for Wii Fit. Might be something I'd buy on discount or even used. =/

Indiana Jones will be seen this weekend for me though! :)

The Mrs and I will be enjoying Wii Fit on Tuesday. We will be going to see Indy this weekend as well.

Getting my Wii Fit from Amazon in a hopefully prompt fashion. Not sure whether I'll get to see Indy this week or whether it'll have to wait, but I'll be seeing it at some point without question. One of those rare movies that I'm willing to pay to see even if it turns out to be awful. ;)

Though I'm not sure I'll be picking up either one yet, I'm eyeing both Wii Fit and UEFA Euro 2008.

This week, I probably will grab National Treasure: Boob of Secrets, since I liked the first one; be waiting to see Indy 4 when it comes out on video, too.

Huh. I thought Haze was further out.

The hype seems to have fallen off at an odd time.

I'll see Indy at some point this summer but probably not for a little while. I'm just not that excited about it. It'll be fun, sure, but I am currently more in the mood to see Speed Racer than I am Indy... and that just shouldn't be.

And Postal... Oh boy. I thought that turd already came out months and months ago direct to DVD...

Has anyone played or previewed Euro 2008? I'm looking for some off-season fun before Pro Ev 09 later in the year, but I don't trust FIFA titles.

I am interested in Conan but before I buy it, I really do need to try it first. My system isn't exactly a supercomputer. 30gb is a lot to download though. On my connection, that would probably take 3 days.

Get Wii Fit! I've used it every day since it came out in Europe and I love it! What with finals it's just about the only videogame I get to play at the moment.

Everyone who bought the game got a key for a "Friend Pass" to allow someone to try it out for a few days.

Unfortunately, I am the only one of the people I know who plays games on PC. The rest either have no interest at all or are Mac users without Windows installed.

For myself, I have an iMac 2.8GHz Core2Duo/2GB RAM/256MB x2600 ATI. It should be enough to play but I've been burned before by poor performance.

I'm tired of the crappy Blu-Ray releases (sorry Baps). I can count on one hand the titles worth owning for Blu-Ray. Where's the classic movies? Where are the big Disney and Pixar movies (yes I know Cars is out)? Where are the great trilogies like StarWars, Indiana Jones, or LOTR? Hell I'd even settle for an old blockbuster like Gladiator or maybe a classic comedy like Ghostbusters. I know for some the slim pickings out there might all seem like gems but I'm still waiting for the really good movies (and from the release schedule it doesn't look like they're coming anytime soon).

There's a demo on PSN and Live!. I found it to be great. The gameplay is close to Fifa 08, but they have improved it a bit.

I am actually kind of excited about Wii Fit. I'm just not excited about the price tag.

Maybe it'll flop and I'll be able to get it for like $10 in a couple of years. :D

EDIT: Also, I just read some reviews for Assault Heroes 2. I had no idea that game came out already! I looooved the original. It offers some of the most fun co-op gameplay you can get on the 360.

Well I PM'd bap about it, and he kindly reminded me that only Nintendo is consistent with releasing their PR ahead of time. Often the XBLA announcement won't come until Tuesday, and Sony doesn't let you know until the game is posted on Thursday.

Hell I'd even settle for an old blockbuster like Gladiator or maybe a classic comedy like Ghostbusters.

I must be really old... I wouldn't classify any of those as "old" or "classics". Good does not equal classic. A classic is Casablana or Bridge on the River Kwai or Lawrence of Arabia. Gladiator is not a classic. Sorry, it just isn't.

I said Gladiator was an old blockbuster not a classic movie. Anyway, the point is there's jack and sh*t out on Blu-Ray.

I watched In the Name of The King (Dungeon Seige movie) on DVD last night. I actually thought for a second that because it had some high profile actors it would be better... and I mean, Uwe should have enough experience to know what he's doing good/bad by now, right? Nope, it was total rubbish! Seriously one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time! Awful character development, Trogg looking like a bunch of men wearing cardboard cut outs of monster heads, gay cirque de soleil vine climbing people, dreadful dialog... other than using the word "trogg" I have no idea what this has to do with Dungeon Seige what-so-ever.
