The 2008 Keynote speaker at this year's Penny Arcade Expo (http://www.pennyarcadeexpo.com/) will be 2K Boston's Ken Levine, according to GI.Biz (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/levine-to-keynote-pax-2008). The organizers of the fifth annual Penny Arcade Expo have announced that noted game designer, screenwriter and playwright Ken Levine will provide the keynote address.

"Obviously, Ken is pimp supreme," said Penny Arcade's Robert Khoo. "We're super excited to have him open up the show."

Not only that, but the musical entertainment for the weekend was also announced. Returning musical guests include MC Frontalot, mc chris, FreezePop, the MiniBosses, Jonathan Coulton and The OneUps. New for 2008 are Vancouver, B.C.-based Horror Rock outfit The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, as well as New York City's bitpop heroes, Anamanaguchi.

Is it August yet? (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=28)

I'm glad they got JoCo back this year, but man...he goes really well with Paul & Storm. The PAX crowd is really missing out on something that could be even better than just Jonathan himself.

Why, man? They kick ass. Especially J. Coulton and mc chris. Never heard of the MiniBosses.

Be proud of your inner geek.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to hearing Ken Levine. We should see about getting hammered with that guy. I bet he'd have some interesting stories to tell. :)

I can't stand MC Chris, but The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets is good news, as is the return of JoCo. Paul and Storm would've been great too.

I might actually go to the keynote this year.

Never heard of the MiniBosses.

They've put up their first album (Brass) on their website. Do yourself a favor and download it. It's awesome.

Goddamnit, I'm so disappointed that I won't be attending this year. Ken Levine is probably one of my favorite game producers out there and motherfucking Freezepop rocks! :(

You mean you didn't go see Wil Wheaton? For shame! :p

I agree with you about MC Chris, though. Was it two years ago that he played at PAX? I walked out after the first 10 minutes of his set because he bothered me so much.

DO they sell alcohol during the shows? Or can you bring your own?

There's no need for alcohol in the convention center.

MC Chris played at the first PAX, and hasnt' returned since. Honestly, i am surprised to see so much MC Chris hate. I think he's the best guest they've ever had. (Yah, I've gone to every pax/concert pretty much) Although, i always like the minibosses a lot too :) They're pretty bad ass!

God I can't wait. Believe it or not, if for some reason I have to choose between E3 and PAX..I'm choosing PAX.

No and No on both counts. Because 1) Who wants drunken belligerant folks running around with a crowd of both kids and adults 2) It's an all ages show

There's plenty of bars right next to the show.

I've got $20 that PAX will have more exhibitors than E3.

This is incorrect. "mc chris" showed up to the second PAX in 2005. There seems to be a reason for the "mc chris" hate, which making use of google will uncover. Listening to the song mc chipmunk (http://www.myspace.com/optimusrhymelive) and then reading that song's lyrics (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=20426840&blogID=322550743) is a good explanatory device.

They might, but if E3 is like last year PAX won't have the one on one time with developers.

PAX is gonna be great because get a few drinks in me and I'll make a Halo joke in a room full of fans just for the lulz.

You could totally duct tape two flasks to your inner thighs. You'll have a way better time than these posers.

My only Halo is joke is "Red vs. Blue is fucking retarded"

MC Chris did the voice (and the rapping) for several Adult Swim Characters, including MC Pee Pants (From Aqua Teen Hunger Force) and Hesh (from Sealab). Honestly, anyone associated with Aqua Teen Hunger Force is already halfway to sucktown in my book (there's some great stuff in ATHF - but they bury it in crap!) and as for Sealab - it was a great show, but they still managed to put some suck in towards the end. So if you are looking for a reason to hate on MC Chris - you don't have to look too far.

I actually didn't care much for what I heard on there...sure it was good for 8-bit inspired techno but if there was something else going on at the same time I'd go to it. I am however looking forward to The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets.
