i honestly expect this game to fail hard, and quickly. the beta was completely unimpressive, both technically and artistically speaking.

One of my SG's from CoH seems to be planning a mass exodus to AoC. It's not the SG I'm really into, so it doesn't matter too much, but I plan on seeing them again within a month or two. Tried warning them about the impressions I've heard, but everyone seems dead set on leaping in, head-first, on launch day.

Rule of Thumb: Never buy an MMO on launch day, unless you've actually been in the beta yourself, and know what condition it's going to launch in.

I got early access but cant play on saturday. Still day 1 in most MMO's I'ved tried is a mess so I'm not to sad.

Personally I think the game has come a long way since I got into the beta (2-3 months or so ago) and I like it alot.

PVE servers have pvp in border kingdoms and also voluntary duels I think. PVP servers have ffa-pvp everywhere after level 20.

I just made my preorder account and bought the early access, but the link on my account for the installer isn't working, so now I'm having to grab the early access installer off of a random torrent, and I'm worried >_<. That said, I'll probably go with Dagoth, since, supposedly, this game was meant to be played on PvE.

From the forums, early access has been sold out since weds since they were planning on 600k early access subscribers. Some people on the forums claim it has been open intermitently since then but there's been no official confirmation of this.

The FFA servers are going to be absurdly hardcore, you can even gank guild members, anyone thats not a your group you can kill.

Only the major cities are safe zones, everywhere else is free for all.

If AoC ever does end up coming to the 360, I might pick it up and give it a go just for curiosity sake. It looks like it could be interesting and do some good things over time with a bit of polish, but right now it's a big sack of "meh" to me. As someone who loves the Howard books, this makes me sad. I want this game to do well, so hopefully people manage to give the right feedback and the devs listen.

Looks like PvE for me it is. PvP servers, like WoW's, seem to be griefing servers.

Maybe it's just me but this just sounds like an exercise in frustration. I don't ocassional pvp (ie sieges) but being the victim of random ganking constantly just to maintain someone's hard on isn't for me.

In Open Beta, after they set all servers to FFA PvP, it was extremely difficult to play without being griefed. People were waiting in gank squads at the graveyards in order to kill anyone spawning. The same happened at zone entrances.

The first 5 levels of the single player take like an hour, and during that time you are still online and can communicate with other players.
After that you are in the "multiplayer" aspect of the world and can chose when to go to the single player aspects.

I don't think people understand the "singleplayer" portion of Conan very well. Some people seem to be thinking that there is a significant singleplayer, offline mode, and that is not the case from the way I understand things. There is like a tutorial, where you don't interact with other players, but you're still playing on the server.

Was thinking about rolling on the Crom server, with a Priest of Mitra or a Tempest of Set. Any reason for creating a character on Bori? or is that just your personal preference for the server name?

I'll almost certainly be on Cimmeria if it launches and is not a disaster. I expect the launch to go more or less smoothly, but I'm in no hurry.

In my opinion pre publish 9 SWG was the best MMO to date. Except for the hideously unbalanced PvP.

Early Access has been closed for a couple days now, it was always limited to a certain number of players and due to unexpected demand all the early access slots were given out in the first couple days. If you are buying the game now expecting to play this weekend, then you are out of luck. You will have to wait until the official launch on the 20th.

Typical Funcom, the apointed time for the early access release... and they delay it -2 minutes before the 5:00PM GMT deadline, and take down the forums, as to not hear the outraged cries of thousands of players who payed to play the early access and cant.

The forum stunt especialy reminded me of the shit they pulled during the AO launch.

Hopefully it will turn out for the best, but these guys have terrible terrible management.

I wonder if buying an American copy would allow me to play on the NA servers, or if I'd need a NA address too. I'm guessing the latter.

I thought i read somewhere on the forums that you could indeed play on the U.S servers if you had the U.S client, they don't IP block.

The problem would be the payment method, im not sure if they are blocking European credit cards.

Edit: just checked my account page, and it lsists the following as payment options:


We accept the following major credit cards:

* JCB

Your Reference is a name you enter to identify your payment method. For example My Visa or My Bank Account


So im theory, you could play the game, even tho your in Europe, if you bought the U.S client.
