Eve Online Expansion "The Empyrean Age" Teaser Video Released

Eve Online's developers CCP has released a teaser video for Eve's next expanision "The Empyerian Age" (http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/video/2/empyrean_age_teaser_1280x720.wmv) . The new free expansion to Eve Online is due to be released this June and brings Factional Warfare to Eve's masses. More details on the Factional Warfare expansion was revealed in the developer blog by CCP's Greyscale (http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=557):

The core gameplay element of Factional Warfare is small-scale PvP combat. We believe that rounding up your posse, rolling out into contested space and having a healthy exchange of opinions and weapons fire with your sworn enemies is fun. Factional Warfare is designed to make this kind of experience accessible, with low entry requirements and a target-rich environment.

There will be two core drivers for this sort of combat. For those looking for direction, missions will be available, sending you on surgical strikes deep into enemy territory, battling through or sneaking past enemy players to reach the objective. For those who prefer to set their own goals, combat sites will be distributed throughout the warzones. Each site will be contestable by all sides involved in the conflict, with the winning side scoring both immediate rewards and points for their faction.

And what do points mean? Systems! As your faction racks up points in hostile systems, control will slowly swing into your favor, until eventually you're given the opportunity to occupy the system outright. Of course, the enemy's trying to do the same to your systems, so a good defense as well as well as a strong offense will be needed if you want your adopted faction to prevail and dominate!

The video has made my pants wet, and I am looking forward to another great free expansion to the Eve universe.

Awesome video! Made me load up the game again today. I finished my Battlecruiser training, but I'm going to need a lot more skills (and a lot more money) to outfit a Battlecruiser.

Oh EVE, you make it so hard to stay away. This seems like it addresses my only real complaint with EVE, that it was so damn hard to find people to kill. Trolling low sec for hours and never seeing anyone was only fun for so long. Odds are good I'll be sucked back in when this comes out.

I've never really had the urge to get far into EvE myself. I love the setting and style... being huge oldschool decent freespace and wing commander fans, but the whole thing felt like a second job to me.

Much respect to those who have made a success for themself in EvE.
