The most recent Steam News Update (http://www.steampowered.com/Steam/Marketing/September2.2005/) from Valve Software has word that the Source version of the popular Day of Defeat Mod will be available sometime in September.

Day of Defeat: Source will be released this month. While we're not quite ready to pin down the exact date of when it will be available to play, we are confident that it will happen in September. Once we do have an exact date and time for when the game will be activated, we'll let everyone know.

There will be a period of one week at minimum during which people will be able to pre-order and preload the game via Steam, giving them the ability to unlock and play at the moment it is activated.

Day of Defeat: Source will be available as an individual purchase via Steam, as well as part of the Counter-Strike: Source retail package that will be available at stores around the same time. Half-Life 2: Silver and Gold package customers will automatically be able to play. Thanks, Shacknews (http://shacknews.com/).

I don't know about anyone else but i'm ready to sign-up for some DOD:S action... especially with the addition of HDR lighting!
Only wish there was a more solid release date / time...

if they keep their word, then less then 18 days before preload begins.

It's worth noting that DOD:S uses HDR, but Lost Coast is meant to be debuting it. It isn't unreasonable to assume that Lost Coast will come out first.

Day of Defeat's cool and all...but I'm really waiting for RagDoll Kung-Fu. Right now, that game seems far more interesting than some old FPS

one of the many irrational HL2 Special edition buyers thats totally pissed that we won't get DOD: S for our exuberant purchase. yes yes don't tell me the facts thats why i put "irrational" I know that they were in a bad place with the publisher at the time they were making deals yadda fucking yadda, still I'm pissed off.

I didn't really get why you'd want to buy HL2 SE from the stores, to be honest, when the Steam Gold Edition was cheaper and came with more stuff, and could also be played the moment it came out. Maybe I was just missing something in the whole deal you were getting there, though :)

Huge sale at futureshop, thats the only reason I myself have it, i still like to complain though like everyone else these days.

Good god, they started telling me this way coming soon when I bought HL2, then last spring, and now we'll see if it comes out anytime this month. All this from a company who wants to produce HL2 episodes every three months.
