TeamXbox (http://www.teamxbox.com/) had posted an interview (http://interviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/1281/Unreal-Engine-3-and-the-Xbox-360-Hard-Drive/p1/) with Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic Games, of how the Unreal Engine 3 will work with the Core Xbox 360.
At least Epic isn't giving up on developing games for the PC, "...UT2007 has been aimed at the PC where we would naturally expect systems to have more available system memory."

Why would they? It's an extremly viable platform, where they already have a huge fan-base.

I agree and I wasn't suggesting that they were. I am just glad they aren't bailing on it by going to route of only creating platform based games.

It's pretty dumb to abandon PC in terms of Unreal Tournament because:
1. It's the PC franchise to begin with. Xbox franchise as we know it is Unreal Championship with its melee focus and slower gameplay.
2. Unreal Tournament 2004 stomped Unreal Championship 2 in terms of sale.
3. K\M is the way to play UT games.
Epic can make GoW for 360 and another unannounced FPS for the PS3. But UT gameplay has always been about Pc, and another take of it that betrays the name "Unreal Tournament" just to compensate different kind of audience won't just cut it (like what Ubislut does with Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6). Kudos to Epic.

Nice to know Epic is keeping with PC as it's primary platform for its 'ultimate version' of UE3.
I can imagine the console port of UT2007 looking quite washed out when it eventually gets ported.

When you have limited resources, you tend to concentrate them where you'll see the most return on your investment.
People aren't giving up on PC, but it isn't their primary target platform anymore. More and more, the PC is becoming a secondary target, which usually means a relatively low cost port of a game to PC. Most games developed for console and ported to PC end up sucking, unfortunately.

I like how alot of the developers say 512MB of RAM is more important to them than hard drives yet gamers are up and arms about it not being mandetory. Epic would never give up PCs games. But they have the best engine on display at the moment so why not got Micosofts money which they have gotten from Unreal Championship games (Where's UC3) and get Sony's as well cause they haven't had anything to show for there system except for the mini fridge inspired case. Carmack said he liked the Xbox 360 and was gonna get id more involved in making stuff on it. He didn't say no Quake 4 on PC.
Do you pc gamers really fear their favorite developers leaving you butt nekkid in the night after years of keeping you warm and fuzzy with games?
Instead of another post just to tack on to something someone above said about a UT 2007 port. It would looked washed why? Unreal Championship 3 wouldn't even be a direct port by no means? He said the pc version of Unreal 3 engine is superior where?

I, for one, was relieved to see that UT2007 is mainly aimed at the PC. I guess somewhere in all the talk about GoW and the Unreal3 engine a while back, I somehow got the (horrifying) impression that they were moving everything over to consoles. In my opinion, PC is the only way to go for this type of game.

Yeah just look at how Halo 2 failed on the Xbox.

Yeah, but I hated Halo 2. I will remind you that I said "in my opinion". (Plus, I wouldn't even say that UT and Halo are the same kind of game. FPS, sure, but if you are any more specific....)

Keck is right about UT and UC not being the same. And UC1 tried pretty hard to be a port of UT 2003. You can't run, glitch, and twitch on xbox so much. IMO that's the best. Not everyone is gonna share that opinoin though.

Alot of sheep bought Halo 2. I know at least 3 friends that bought it and played it a few days and haven't touched it since because they don't like console FPS. They just bought it because of the hype.

FABOY ALERT! xboxer!
auto-aim whores! all of you!
Yeah, but all that Micro$oft/Bungie care about is that your friends bought it. Since they never took it back, that's money in their pockets, whether you or your friends actually like the game or not.
Plus in console-land, more people BUY, instead of PC-town, where everybody PIRATES.
so, OF COURSE they're putting UT07 on PC. It's a PC franchise and they'll build it the same way they're building their sloppy/bloated console games... they just won't have to figure out how to optimize it. :D

you'd have to be stupid to play UT on a controller, now i like consoles but seriously it wouldn't feel right

UT7 for the PC, the only game I'm guaranteed to throw down a pre-order on.
And I don't care how much MS goes on about Live!, the 360 community will not be nearly as vibrant when it comes to mods, which is what UT is all about.
